The future climate for guns?

I don't always believe the R or L Kool Aid mass media news aka propaganda and to most of the tv or radio blow hards that worship at the altar of the Bush Cabal, the Clinton Cabal and/or any other R or D politician.

Most of the news and financial people are SHILLS for the R or L wings along with tons more. I can't put it down HERE because this thread will be closed, deleted or I might be banned.

These people are ANTI GUN and ANTI FREEDOM. They are TRAITORS to the Constitution since they do NOT uphold and defend that piece of paper. Period.

Respectfully yours,

Catherine

I think you are both on target and way off at the same time.

News is a business. They get revenue by selling ad time. If they don't sell enough ad time, they won't have jobs. So, they focus on presenting the news in ways that they believe will maximize ad revenue. Those outlets that focus on the left (mostly what we might think of as the mainstream media) tend to slant things so their target audience will appreciate what they are saying. The left has always been opposed to personal freedom, since they think only government can possibly know what is best for you, so it is not too surprising that they come out as statist most of the time, and generally not in favor of personal liberty.

Because there was a news vacuum for many years for people who were not socialist in their outlook, other media outlets (talk radio at first) saw that vacuum and focused on maximizing ad revenue for people who did not like the MSM slant. But you still have to sell ads for the revenue, or you end up like Air America.

Capitalism at its best.

Every dollar printed by any government is backed by the amount of gold in that country's treasury. Our dollar is weak because we currently owe more money to other countries than we ever have. Nobody wants to hear about the great and powerful tool of globalization being responsible though.

FDR took us off the gold standard in the 30's. There actually isn't enough gold in the whole world to back up the paper money. That is why its fiat money- only based on the creditability of the U.S. government.

Yes the Euro is killing the dollar, so you may want to cancel your skiing trip to Austria :)() but then you do have European tourists coming here and overspending to take advantage of the exchange rate.

The market has to correct itself and we have to simply ride it out- a recession actually isn't a bad thing, its the knee-jerk political reactions we need to fear. Government intervention in the economy (even when they mean well) compromises Adam Smith's idea of the free market and can often exacerbate conditions. If you look at the Great Depression, both Hoover and FDR did more to make it worse by trying to artificially tamper with the economy. We need to buckle down and avoid a chicken-little "the sky is falling" mindset. ;) The free market corrects itself.

I predict Global Warming. The good news is that with proper maintence our guns should come through it just fine......Essex

Me thinks the days of wasteful Americans is over.
With China and India along with others competing for raw materials, the prices of things will remain high.

I've always collected my brass. I remember hearing from others that ammo is so cheap why bother.

Don't forget boys and girls is the other downside to conservation. Revenues drop, thus prices go up to account for the drop in usage.
The old economic double whammy.

The system is failing! Our gun rights are far from being our only problem. And, for the most part, we are doing nothing to correct this situation.

Oil went down below $100 dollars a barrel the other day. I have a friend that is a graduate student in business focusing on commodities (such as oil). He has predicted (accurately) the rise and fall of oil for the past two years and is now predicting oil to rise shortly and then make a steady decline at last. The dollar is starting to gain value again. Just have hope. Change the things you have control over. There's not much else you can do.

Those folks listen to the squeaky wheel. The new administration that inherits the White House, regardless of its political stripes, will have its hands full with some major challenges that most Americans are concerned with far more than they are with the right of the people to keep and bear arms. One of them is the economy and the desire of the people to keep houses they can't afford but think they should keep while someone else eats the cost and to afford to drive to and from work each day.

Fixed :)

Keynesian economics is a colossal failure. Free market economies are self correcting. The worst thing that can happen is for the .gov to plunge it's hand into the market and try to mess with things. That will create unimaginable long term harm. The media has been pushing the "our economy is terrible" in order to set the stage for one of their (D) candidates to "save us".

As far as guns...plan on a massive push for ammo controls. And a wise lawyer indeed will be needed to show that ammo is Constitutionally protected.
