Theres one of those lowers sitting in one of my favorite shops here. Every time im in there i think, "god that looks stupid". Then i see this set up, and painted, and now i want it.

Gunny what about instead of doing one of those, how about one to honor your fellow men and women in the services?

I'm thinking of doing one with a Navy theme to honor my grandfather after I finish my current build. While looking for a lower, I've seen them with Army and USMC markings also. So I may also do an Army one to honor my brothers service (yea he's the odd ball and went into the Army go figure!)

It’s not my thing at all but man it does look sharp! Seeing it done up and the parts list makes me want to copy your build part for part, great choices and ditto on the paint job.

I already have my USMC rifle.

I guess you could say that I’m a jack of many trades. I took art in high school. Also learned how to do paint and body work, painted a few cars in my day. Pretty handy at carpentry. Just check out the wall in the pics of my shop. Also been restoring and repairing gun stocks for 30 years. Did some gun bluing for a few years.
When I build an AR I want it to be functional, don’t care much for the add on’s that do little or have no function.
But I do like some cool factor on some builds like The Jack. Some would say that the lower isn’t functional and is just for looks, but then they have most likely never used a rifle with the lower. The mag well is flared and the skull works great if you’re one that grips the front of the lower.
And that fancy Lantac Dragon muzzle break, talk about sweet.

I’m with you. I don’t have any artistic ability but can fix most things. Can write and have lots of odd and end skills.

I agree bling isn’t necessary, but every now and then it’s nice to have something besides basic black. Said by the guy with 9 gazillion black shirts!
