My brother is what I like to call a true Wisconsin deer hunter. Anyone from the north knows who I am talking about. The guy has a sleek rifle that ends in 06. His blaze orange hangs in the scent free rafters of his garage. His cold weather gear includes boots that he never laces and his trusty blue jeans.

So I call him like every week to see if he would like to come spend a Sunday at the range. Just like the last weekend, its a no. He tends to spend his weekends with his girlfriend, and is hard pressed to see the family. However this weekend, he "graces" me the honor of sighting in the said sleek rifle that ends in 06. When he drops it off, it comes with half a box of core lokts that have seen many miles in the glovebox and has a funk on the casings. And to top it off it comes with a cleaning kit, still in the original packaging. :banghead: Mind you, he has owned this rifle for the last 10 years.

So I spent the afternoon of quite possibly the best summer day in the basement, cleaning years of deer slaying out of an old, tired, sleek rifle. And I noticed it no longer is as sleek and sexy as I remember it.

I have to wonder where my love of guns has come from, no one in my family is a shooter. My brother removed, the only gun we owned was a browning 22. Now I have enough guns to have fun. Maybe I can blame it on people like all of you.

My biggest complaint about the whole situation is that I can't clean the rifle outside, the police would take issue with it. :)
