The myth of compliance

Looking at the Rader Thread

Rule of thumb is if you can Id them you're probably more likely to get dead.

I pretty much apply that rule to : if you threaten me, you mean it... and I gotta finish you or forever look over my shoulder for you to make good on that threat. Sorry, I'm going to fight. Compliance isn't an option, ESPECIALLY AFTER READING THAT RADER THING. <shudder>

Only a few things to add.

#1 - Many criminals, rapists in particular, in fact *depend* on the myth of compliance to aid and abet them, for without it things would not be so simple/easy for them.

#2 - Many jobs where you might get robbed make compliance mandatory, having been fired for something similar, and having seen how many convenience store clerks in MD have been gunned down after compliance simply to eliminate the witness.. I'd have to say the employer is somewhat at fault in those deaths.

#3 - Note that the people telling YOU not to resist, would for the most part resist themselves, and have little if any intention to protect or avenge you should something like this happen.
(One locality I've mentioned is notorious for legally punishing people who do resist.)

and finally,

# 4 - Only an idiot tests bulletproof glass when he's standing behind it.
It's not even technically bullet "proof" (read the disclaimers when you install it) but rather bullet "resistant" - meaning that it's not absolute protection, nor should it be considered as.

Convenience store clerks and gas station flunkies should be automatically entitled to CCW, it'd put a dent in this kinda thing rather handily.
