The Myth that WD40 is bad for guns

Won't comment on WD for guns but I do know that down here in paradise (south Florida) we sent out specific training memos to every law enforcement agency regarding use of WD (or any spray lube... ) on ammunition... Given the corrosive environment we worked in more than a few officers found that using spray lubes of any kind on ammo was a very bad idea since it didn't take long for that ammo to die (and not fire when at the range, and other places) since spray lubes penetrated the cartridges and destroyed a. primer or b. powder.

What we advocated was simply to remove each cartridge and wipe it down with a dry cloth (and use that same cloth to polish away any surface problems if possible). I started in police work during the early seventies and I can remember the training memo very clearly - long before the eighties about ammo killed by WD or other spray lube...

Nope, I was not being sarcastic, I was simply being decent, castile. Chill. ;)

You took time to craft and share with us a rather detailed post on a subject about which you seem to feel strongly.

No, he really didn't. He just copied and pasted claims from WD40 as if they necessarily pertained to guns. What the product does on fish hooks isn't really relevant to guns, LOL.
