The one you're sorry you let go...

The one I was most sorry I let go was my 5" 625-4. I wound up trading my ex-beau a ParaOrd P-12 to get it back. (Ironically, I have traded it away again in favor of a 5" 625-2, an identical, but slightly more collectable, piece.)

Other stars of my "wish I still had that one" reminiscings are (occasionally) my SP-89 and Spectre, my Lithgow SMLE, my old 3" RB 13, a 1911 parts gun that shot exceptionally well, my nickelled Series 70 lightweight Commander, Broomhandle Mauser, pre-'63 Detective Special, heavily customized Marlin 1894...

He disappeared with no forwarding address about a month after I loaned him the gun for an out-of-state IPSC shoot
If I were in your shoes, I'd fill out a police report on a stolen pistol. That's what it sounds like to me. You loaned a pistol for a specific IPSC match and the pistol was never returned. At least get on the record that the pistol is out of your hands. I'll bet LE can find your "friend".

To answer the original question there are two pistols I'd want back: A Colt Combat Commander in 9MM -- first pistol I owned; and a Colt S70 GM I sold to a friend. In an effort to replace it I've bought five others, but it's just not the same.

A Colt Lawman. First revolver I ever bought (brand spanking new at that). I later aquired a Python and the Lawman just sat. A friend conned me out of it and still has it today some 25 years later. That was truly my knock around, go anywhee gun. He won't part with it, but atleast I know it has a good home and still occasionally see it.
Made the same mistake years later in a trade with my Browning Challenger II. A High Standard found it's way home with me and the Browning was pushed aside then later traded. One day I will learn. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

P7M8

Never got it back and it's gone. Last I heard, some Air Force combat controller was hauling it around Europe. Didn't even know they were allowed to do that.

My USP45C was a great gun but I didn't shoot it well enough to justify keeping it. It is now in someone else's loving hands. I liked the gun more than I liked shooting it.

One's I regretted selling/trading away? Here they are...

1. Hungarian SA-85M (AKM)

2. Springfield SAR-48 (FAL)

3. Valmet M-76

4. HK-91A2

5. FN FNC

6. HK USP

Yes, I was young and stupid too!:banghead:

P95 Carry / Model 27

I think you will have to look out to replace it one day ... that 5" tube, IMHO ..... is the greatest ... wonderful proportions.

Brother, you are so right, on all counts. I've seen the pics of your treasured 27 out here and love every one of 'em! :)

Such a 27 is one of the few guns I'd consider trading/selling my 1911 toward.

Wow. Looks like I'm the only goofball that has paid twice for the same gun(s). How embarrassing.

Colt Viper, blued, 98%: Made one year only--1977--basically an alloy framed Police Positive. Bought it for $275 and took it out and fired it before I realized I was never going to see another one <wince>. Sold it for $200. Bought it back for $325. Just paid $750 for a NIB nickel one, so I guess $400 overall isn't too bad.

Colt Government 380, Stainless, First Edition in presentation case, 100% NIB: Bought for $425, sold for $400, bought back for $500. This gun has the prettiest ebony wood stocks, with Colt logo, I've ever seen. I fooled myself into thinking it was an investment. I just like to look at the gun.

Colt Python, 1967, 6", Royal Blue, 99+++%: Bought at a gun show for $580, sold for $500, looked around at what they cost and bought it back for $600.

There are others, but this is just getting too damn painful to relive. On day I'll learn not to spend ALL my money on guns.

Then I won't have to sell them to eat.

I've since sworn a solemn oath to never sell any gun again.

lost and gone

colt stainless 44mag in 4inch....was a great gun..just had to have that auto loader.now i cant afford to replace the 44 and i shoot my 45 auto more than i shoot the glock i traded for....oh well lesson learned...dont trade save and buy...

I've sold quite a few, including a SIG P226, Glock 23, Glock 30, Springfield Champion, HK USP .40, Steyr SPP, Astra A-75, Kel-Tec P11, and a few more I can't recall.

I don't regret selling any of them. I didn't enjoy shooting any of them with the exception of the SPP.

On occasion I have been tempted to sell my pre series 70 Combat Commander in 9mm that my dad gave me on my 21st birthday (the same one I used to inadvertently put a hole in the bedroom wall) but fortunately sanity always prevailed.

Now I know there will be some cold dead fingers involved before I willingly give that one up.

I feel bad about selling my 60's vintage python, but the one that really really kills me every time I think about it is:

My browning hi-power that actually was accurate and had a great, and I mean really great factory trigger!

The first browning HP I ever shot. But as it belonged to somebody else and i was givning back to him I don't quite think it counts as givinig it up:uhoh:

With the unstable laws in this idiot state once I get a gun I'll never willingly give it up.

My three screw Ruger .45 convertible. Yes, I'm an idiot (but a good son -- I traded it for a motorcycle to give my dad on his birthday:) ).

That sounds like a cool @$$ gun

Thanks. How do you like the pimp grips?
