The Return of TFL - The High Road's Future?

None too soon either! :)

The recent rash of PC-ness and censorship around here is killing me. Oh sorry, was that off topic?

I'll be there...

Seventeen months? No more than I post, that was just an average term. I'm glad to see that I'm still signed up on TFL. I'd be happier if I knew that Dennis would be back with his wit and wisdom.....

I have too much time invested here on THR. I was bummed to see TFL go, but don't plan on posting over there too much. It is a great board, but I like the fact that there are no ads here. GT XDTALK, and now TFL all have ads. All of that selling starts to wear on me. I like it here and will still make this my main gun board.

Sturm,
There are no ads at TFL. There is a S.W.A.T. banner/logo at the very bottom of the page. Since Rich owns TFL and S.W.A.T. I honestly don't see a problem.

When Oleg and company opened THR I was so grateful for a place to continue to learn and to share firearms information. I log in here everyday and learn something new nearly as often.

Having this source has been priceless to me.

We were all left hanging by TFL as a result of the decision of the operators then. That's ok.

That Oleg led the charge to organize and operate this site has been something I will always appreciate.

TFL was good. THR is great and it is the present.

And it is where I anticipate the future being too.

Just my .02 cents worth.

A future of right wing political correctness?:what:

Ah well... we all have our opinions.

I have been reading this thread with interest an was hesitant about posting. (Yeah like that's ever stopped me before.)

I lurked several months over at TFL but never I never registered because I never felt I would be welcomed. But then again I was never welcomed when I started posting here either. I did however feel somewhat accepted.
Probably because I lurked for six months before registering, I was more comfortable withg how things were running.

I keep hearing how THR has changed. I see more people complaining. But then you'll never be able to please everyone. (a concept Senator Kerry has yet to grasp) I have seen very little change, but then again I avoid L&P like the plague.

Unless the atmosphere has changed over at TFL I think I'll be staying here until they give me the boot.
I'll visit TFL but only to sit back and watch and see how it goes. I sincerely wish them the best.

The High Road is the classiest of the gun forums. I'll look in at TFL to see what's up, but THR will be my primary.

A couple of thoughts...

1) What are the actual differences between THR and TFL? Most of the members from TFL are over here, and I figure that since the clientele is the same, the atmosphere will be similar at least.

2) Upon hearing about the return of The Firing Line for the first time, I equated it with the Second Coming of Christ as far as the impact it has had on this board. :p

I never got a chance to post over there before it closed. :( Looks like I've got some work to do... :)

TFL is closed and THR is open -- until tomorrow, that is. The L&P forum on TFL is more open and allows general political discussions while THR has narrowed their L&P to firearm politics only.

To get an idea of the difference, see my post at http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=1006992#post1006992 . The thread on John Walker would no longer be allowed here.

I am one of the old TFL folks who found a new home here so I am thrilled that TFL is coming back.

I will browse both places with great joy. The more pro RKBA sights the better.

I say welcome back TFL.

that's an nteresting observation
because the late Gunslinger created FFF for those of us that were
tired of TFL's rigid PC policy, back in 2001

funny, how more things change they really do stay the same

have tape, rest in peace Bill...

Welcome to The High Road, man. Glad to have ya :neener:

I was one of the early members of TFL. Back when it was small and a lot of fun. When it got too big and wasn't fun any more I left. Long before it was shut down.
I also joined THR not long after it opened. I hardly ever post here, but do lurk occasionally.
Like many of you here, my keyboard time is limited. This is the main reason I won't be posting at either board much. I just don't have the time to be involved with such large boards.

So as an outsider looking in, I can't say I like what I'm seeing here. Too many are taking an either/or stand. The division is already beginning and the fight has already started. Bad news for both boards.
I'll be watching the situation unfold with some interest.

It just occured to me that with two sites up and running, life for the anti-RKBA trolls from DU just got a lot busier. :p We pretty much have them surrounded.

Prehaps if TFL L&P accepts a broader topic list that is a good thing for both of these excellent forums. I always took some pride in at least contributing to running off at least one anti-gun troll over on TFL.
