Yeah, I gotta go with 20ga 2 3/4" paper shot shells, freshly fired. I remember the late 1960s when the changeover was really happening. Plastic hulls were pretty good too, but the paper hulls were different, and seemed to hold on to that smell for a loong time.
Thanks for bringing that memory back!

The smell of burnt gunpowder and priming compound from Eley 22lr. As I like to call it, the "Eley Smell".

Definitely the tiny lingering trail of smoke after shooting a bunch of .22 rimfire. Why does .22 smell so much better than other gunsmoke? Oh man, I can smell it now, just sitting here thinking about it.

The smell of Louisiana marsh mud AKA "Gumbo", Winchester Super X Drylok Steel Shot, a wet Black Labrador Retriever and Deet....

Reminds me of the old days... (Like a couple years ago.. I'm not that old yet...)

The sharp smell of wolf ammo, burnt powder, the smell of the flowers near my firing point, and the much less pleasant of at least one large man sweating profusely in the Texas heat.

    I really miss Alaska sometimes.

So true! After every shot I take at a deer - I'm very excited and I always smell the burned powder from my 12ga mixed with the smell of the woods.....

only ten weeks until I smell it again hopefully!
