The Hi-Point JCP .40 S&W has long been considered one of the world's elite combat handguns. Carefully designed and built in America by top engineers using state-of-the-art computer-aided design, the hi Point represents the apex of firearms technology. This being the case of course it can be improved on by some hac... uh... skilled gun-smith in his garage! After an entire afternoon of research and development TCAH (Tacti-Cool As Hell) is proud to introduce the TCAH Stage 1- Perfection PERFECTED!

Stage 1 represents the Ultimate street-combat evolution of the Hi Point JCP! Features include:

*Fully ambidextrous trigger- usable by either hand without any modification to the firearm, giving the TCAH Stage 1 un-paralelled combat versatility!

*Custom textured grips created with our proprietary RotoPC technology that provide a secure, consistent grip under any circumstances- even if you are up to your elbows in zombie goo! Additional safety is provided by a textured pad to rest your trigger finger off the trigger. These are placed on either side of the frame in case you are taking advantage of the FULLY AMBIDEXTROUS TRIGGER. Or have a really, freakishly long trigger finger.

*Enhanced visibility sights using our proprietary TNP (Tactical Nail Polish) method.

*Our proprietary 'magic' trigger job that significantly reduces the trigger pull while retaining the safety of excessive creep. Just read this testimonial from Linda Pearce: 'I'm sure it's very nice, honey. Did you finish that sword?' Aeryn Saint said: 'It was worse than this before? Wow!'

The TCAH Stage 1 gives you everything you need to be ready for combat while retaining the desirable features of the original HiPoint:

*Ugly finish so you won't be concerned about holster-wear

*Low-capacity magazine so you can track your shots without taking off your shoes

*Reassuringly heavy, because you never know when you might need to beat a water-buffalo to death!

*The signature ILMB (Inexplicably Large Magazine Base,) because... well, we're not sure anyone actually knows.

Yet again the word's "silk purse" and "sow's ear" come to mind.

You know, it's kinda funny. I saw this gun last year appearing NIB at a range in Tacoma and looked at it out of curiosity. The price? $75. I actually dithered until Linda said, "For God's sake, it's $75 and has a lifetime warranty! Just buy the damn thing." I did, and aside from the first round in the magazine occasionally nose-diving instead of chambering it's been reliable through several hundred rounds. I tweaked the feed lips and now even that doesn't happen.

Mind you other than reliability and accuracy this is no way a good gun. Heavy as hell, very wide, low capacity, awful trigger- but it works, and from all I hear their customer service is excellent. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone that could afford better, but if I come across another deal like that I'll probably take it, because why not?

The stock grip is quite slippery, which exaggerates the gun's top-heaviness so I had idly considered stippling the grips, but it just wasn't worth the effort. Then I saw a video ad for a company (that will remain nameless) for incredibly expensive Glock mods, and I was in a silly mood yesterday afternoon so I thought, 'What the hell.'

Stippling the grips and frame didn't take too long, and not having to struggle to hold the slippery bastard really transforms the feel of the gun. Not saying it's good, but it's worlds better. Removing the magazine disconnect really improves the trigger; again it's not good, but it's better. I could see that smoothing out the contact points in the trigger mechanism will improve things considerably. Maybe someday if I am ever that bored... I also radiused the inside of the rear of the slide, which could sometimes be a bit 'bitey.' I polished the feed ramp too because, well, why not?

As an aside the boys at the range noticed that 10mm would fit in the magazine of one of these they had fallen into, so they reamed out the chamber to 10mm and put 3-400 rounds of full-house 10mm through it without issues. Crazy.

Yes, it's silly to waste time on this brick of a gun but now I'm intrigued... I may waste a bit more time seeing how good (or rather 'less bad') I can make it. There may be another fake ad for a 'Stage 2' in the future...

Yeah that's more than a little crazy! I would definitely want to be on the far side of the range (or not there at all), when that hand grenade went off!
