Movies Where Guns Weren't Used Effectively

Starship Troopers (the movie) was different than the book, and yes the use of their pulse rifles was pretty lame. They were fighting animals, why not use heavy artillery and air power- especially when they like to mass together in open fields?

One of my favorite movies of all time. Sgt Howie was indeed unarmed.

I am very impressed, Wicker Man (1973) is not a well known movie. Truly a classic. Yes, a simple Walther PPK could have helped him out. One shot to "Oak's" huge stomach would have avoided the BBQ at Howie's expense. :D

Also- "Fear" (1996) features a worst-case scenario home invasion where an AR or AK would have been beautiful.

Although in any horror movie, guns can't trump the bad guys or it wouldn't be any fun.

I actually like that in Predator Arnold had to resort to primal techniques to take on the alien at the end. Although nothing beats the 30 second "spray and pray" of the jungle with 8,000 rounds... only scoring a single hit to its ankle!

Missing your target is NOT effective. All those rounds expended and they only knicked him once.

You can hit a target swinging through the trees as fast as Spider-Man and almost perfectly camouflaged?

Shoot, why didn't they take you to Central America? The movie would have been over in a minute!

Movie where they are used well - The Patriot

DUH! Citizen's militia!

Patriot Games

Jack handed his wife their shotgun to defend their kids while he took on the rest.

Gone With the Wind

Scarlett defended herself well from the raping and pillaging of the Union soldier in their house with a nice close range gut shot.

Movie that would be better with the addition of a defensive weapon - all (kidding). I don't watch many horror movies, but at first thought in Batman Begins, Bruce's dad should seriously have been packing at the opera.

I know "The Hills Have Eyes" was mentioned, but not the "The Hills Have Eyes 2." Are you seriously telling me that a squad of gaurdsman are that incredibly incompetant. There were about 3 of those mutant guys. That drove me nuts.

Because I don't have the box office draw that Arnie and The Body do...

But to answer your question, ever been grouse hunting?

The Strangers was one of the worst movies I have ever seen, and I'm not just talking about how the couple were complete morons with their safety, either.

Am I the only one who was cheering for the bad guys because the good guys were simply too stupid to live?

+1 on the crappy Clive Owen movie 'Shoot 'Em Up'. That was a terrible movie. And it should have been great (cause I was drunk :D).

Really great gunplay (on the goodguy's part) would be Blood Diamond with Leo Dicaprio. He checks chamber all the time after he hasn't used his pistol in awhile.

THE SHOOTIST - "Moral of the story: For maximum effectiveness, in Werewolf country, ALWAY keep your .357's loaded with proper .357 ammo (looked in the movie like she was firing .38's) like the ST."

The Shootist, you should know, in case you're ever faced with the horrifying situation, the ONLY bullet that will kill a werewolf is one made of pure silver. The Lone Ranger knew this, and that is why he was always prepared for werewolves. ;)

"The hills have eyes" was mentioned but I think the worst part was when the dad figured out what was going on and then he got spooked and went outside and started firing his revolver blindly into the night.

I couldn't agree more

I felt so bad after going to see this movie that I apologized to my friends after it was over. I'd read the book a few weeks before it came out and was hyped big time about the movie. Man, what a dissapointment. I was in the Navy at the time and convinced all my Marines that this was the movie we all had to team up and go see. Needless to say, I wasn't allowed to pick the movie anymore.

My MstGuns actually made me do laps when we got back.......

My idea for a quick end to the fighting was a simle air assualt with a can of Raid Max and it would have been over in no time.

The hills have eyes made me want to jump in the screen and take charge.. no one seemed to use the gun to the "fullest" extent.. i could have had all of those mutant hill people dead easy.
