Ok, ok, I'm not really a glock lover, but I love the idea of this combo... a Glock 20 with 10mm capable of hunting and a .40 barrel for cheaper plinking and range time. I hear the Glock design is extra good at soaking up that recoil. Is this the ultimate versatile hunting auto?

I must agree -- very tempting combo. I've been contemplating such a set up for a while now...I'd be interested in seeing who here has such a combo & what barrel conversion they went with...

You could do the same thing with a 1911 ... but yes, the 10mm/40 combo is versatile. I've taken good size deer with 10mm out of a 6" Fusion Longslide.

The Glocks do have fairly nice recoil considering how light they are.

If the only reason you want to shoot .40 in the 20 is because of recoil then I don't see you needing to shoot .40 at all. Some of the weaker loaded 10mm stuff is hardly any stronger than .40.

Plus the .40 is a shorter round, and putting it in a Glock desighned for a longer round even with a conversion barrel seems hokey to me. Don't do it. .40 isn't cheap right now anyway.

But there is a perfect solution to this: Get a Glock 21 in .45acp. Its the same size as the G20. Has very little recoil. I find .45ACP much easier to shoot than .40. The G21 rocks.

And, The G21 can very easilly be converted to 10mm, I think. I haven't done it yet, so I'm not 100% sure. Someone that has actually seen it can chime in.

Should only need a barrel, ejector, recoil rod & spring, and extractor to convert a G21 to a G20, plus mags maybe.....about $160 plus mags.

I'm thinking about this myself.....

Once they make a Glock 10mm that doesn't have a grip like a 2x4 I'll be extremely interested. Now if they'd do a 10mm XD....

Really? Because I actually do like .45acp better than .40 S&W. The best of both worlds, however, would be to have a 9mm / 10 mm conversion!

The Glock 23 is very easy to covert from .40 to 9mm. I don't know why a similar multi-caliber set up on a Glock patform that handles both 10mm, .40 and 9mm could not be done. All you should really need are different barrels and magazines, and a different spring for the 10mm, if it's as simple as it is with the 23. If I didn't dislike the Glock grip so much, I'd have done this already.

Lonewolf has barrels to convert the G20 to 9mm. I don't know if you need to replace the extractor or ejector or what magazines to use.

They don't list a barrel for the conversions that only need standard glock barrels. for example a Glock 23 only needs a 32 barrel to shoot 357 sig. No conversion barrel needed, just a stock glock one.

I'm not sure about converting a 21 to fire 10mm like the 20 yet. Seems plausable. If it is, I'm doing it.

While I don't see it on the Lone Wolf site (maybe overlooking), I know I have seen someone's barrel that converts the Glock 21 to shoot 10mm, maybe Allglock and the EFK barrel?

Lone Wolf lists conversion barrels for the 21 to 40 super and 400 corbon...sounds neat!

I like my G20 just as it is. I have a very long hand and I have put a Hogue overwrap grip on it. For me it is very comfortable and controlled. I feel the recoil more with the Blackhawk in 10mm since I don't have as good of a grip on that gun.

I bought one a couple years ago, used it to take a good sized doe but wasn't impressed. First, I have smaller hands so the gun doesn't fit me at all and in my opion the 10mm isn't enough juice for deer, doubletaps or not.

Had to track that doe for about 300 yards before I found her. Managed to get two shots on her (out of eight lol). One shot had hit the shoulder and needless to say didn't go too far after that. All in all I rather just take my .44 out with some good ol' hardcasts.

Paydirt! A friend of mine found that KKM makes a 10mm conversion barrel for the Glock 21. Just need mags for it to work.

The ejector is the same on both models, I'm not sure if the extractor is the same or if it can be changed out. But apparently .45 to 10mm is possible.

I've been told that as long as the G21 comes with an extractor that has the loaded chamber feature then all you need for the conversion to 10mm is the barrel from KKM and magazines.
