Okay.... so lately I've seen (and commented on several posts) about one gun or another and it's superiority.
It's been so iritating to me, I figured I'd post this.
My favorite brands are Glock and H&K. I've used or owned
Glock 19, 17, 22, 27
Beretta 92FS, Cougar (stoeger built)
Smith & Wesson 5904, 5906, 910, M&P (fullsize and compact)
CZ-75, and the Compact Version
H&K USP 9mm and .40 cal (compact only for the .40 S&W)
Ruger P95, P89, P90, P345, SR9
Springfield Armory XD9, XD40, XD45 (& the 9mm Compact)
Walther P99
1911 (various makers)
What I can tell you is this.... between my shooting of them, and my review of military testing (which is vastly more extensive than anything I've ever been able to afford to do), my favorites are the Glock and the HK. I personally think the HK is better overall. But because the Glock costs about $500 brand new, and the H&K is about $900-$1000 in my neck of the woods (and the Glock is about 97% there), I go with Glock.
That being said, I think the difference is about 10%. And, it's subjective to my preferences. If I liked steel framed pistols more, I might prefer the CZ, or the Smith 5906....
That being said, to me it's silly to have a head to head fight about the upper-end of handguns. They are all good. And the difference between them is so slight (in terms of overall quality), that it's virtually irrelevant.
