What is the best 9MM C.C. compact pistol ?

Mine is the Taurus PT-709. Just a skosh bigger and heavier than a Kel-Tec PF-9 or Kahr PM-9. 7+1, manual safety, Glock-like trigger, 2nd strike capability on a misfire. Felt recoil is reasonable, and the 709 is easy to shoot accurately. I have about 200 rounds of FMJ and JHP through the gun, and feel comfortable with it as a carry weapon.

Lots of suggestions for bulky / heavy pistols you'll probably lose enthusiasm for carrying before too long.

You've got two larger pistols already. So I say Kahr PM9, Kel-Tec PF9 or S&W CS9 or M&P9c. All of these are subcompact and carry easily. Before you pick one of these you need to figure out which type of action you prefer in terms of DA/SA versus DAO.

No argument from me.. :)

But..

The gentleman said no expensive "Sigs, H&K's, or Walthers".. :(

Without his restrictions I would agree that FOR ME the HK p2000sk V3, followed by the HK P7 and then the fine Walther P99c/AS would have been my suggestions.

My P11 hasn't yet given me a single reason not to like it.

And

The competition hasn't produced a single pistol that compares to all of its features/specs.

Had a Kahr CW9 for a year. It did not conceal any better than my Glock 26, was less reliable, held less ammo, extra mags for it cost a small fortune, and it developed some surface rust although I wiped it down often. Sold it and have not missed it once.

I thought long and hard about the Kahr PM9, but I read so many negative experiences with them I am hesitant to shell out that much cash on a gun that does not seem to be any more reliable than the cheaper Kel-tec PF-9. I have given up on a super slim 9mm for the time being. If I can't conceal my G26, I carry a S&W 642 revolver. On paper, it looks like a revolver like that would be too wide to conceal well, but the centennial simply disappears in an IWB holster.

Hard to beat a nice 3rd Gen Smith 3913LS or CS9... :)

I had one of those S&W 3913's many years ago. That really was a great little gun. Super accurate, absolutely reliable. The one thing that bothered me was the enormous safety on the slide. It dug into my side. One like PX15 posted that is DA only would make a terrific gun. I always thought that matte grey ladysmith version was a nice looking gun.

Kel-Tec P9 or P11 are a great proven choice and the gun has lifetime warranty. Highly copied but the original is always the best IMO.

I would say that my K9 is easier to conceal than my G19 or my newly acquired g26. Obviously peoples shapes, clothing, method of carry vary though. The is not a huge difference though and for some it may indeed be negligible. I concur on your other points however. I know some people will throw a tizzy but I have more confidence in randomly selected glock than a randomly selected Kahr. I proven kahr is a good gun. As I said I have often carried one. It seems to me (take that for what its worth) that there are more issues with Kahrs. G26 is a good carry gun, there is a reason I just bought one. My Kahr fills that role very well also. A kahr will likely take some breaking in and I would want a higher round count than I would with my glocks using my intended carry ammo before I had confidence sufficient to carry a new kahr. That is just my opinion (based on my experiences) though.

Who has copied the design of the PF9 or the P11?

S&W M&P Compact. I have two, one in 9mm and one in 40S&W. They have both been 100% reliable, have excellent fit and finish, and are very comfortable in the hand partially due to the interchangeable backstraps.

Larger, but better as well, is the HK P30. In my view, it's nearly the perfect pistol.

How about the sccy (SKYY) CPX-1 also Ruger LCP (actually a copy of the p3AT)

I'm trading my XD-40 Subcompact, because I almost never carried it after getting a Kahr P9 Covert. I have a CZ PO-1 and an XD-40 Service, both of which I really like and rarely carry. Once you realize that you can carry an accurate and reliable gun with good sights and a great trigger that only weighs 16oz (unloaded), 30oz guns tend to lose their appeal for daily carry. I don't feel under-armed with 6+1 rounds of 9mm +P JHP and spare magazines are tiny enough to drop in a pocket. I doubt I will ever regularly carry a service-size, double-stack pistol on a regular basis again.

I'm well aware of this one but as you mentioned it is a copy of the P3at which although similar to PF9 is not a PF9 in a few important respects.

I had never heard of the cxp-1 before; I googled it though. I'll have to read up on them if I ever get the time.
