Think I've reached that "saturation" point...

I do understand the overall sentiment. I feel I have all of the combat pistols I will ever need. I have a 629-5 that is probably the finest revolver I have ever seen.

My thoughts are drifting to new and varied .22LR target pistols and things like the Walther .22 handgun. I'm looking more towards flipping beer cans and just plinking in a "quieter" form of shooting.

In fact, now I'm all jazzed about that Walther...

I have friends that burn out on hobbies all the time. It's because they focus on that one hobby until they are bored silly by it, and then they never want to go back.

I, on the other hand, have so many hobbies that I never have time to even practice them all, let alone get bored with them. Martial Arts; guns; knives and swords; fantasy, sci-fi, action, and mystery books and movies; drums; singing in rock and metal bands; playing bass guitar; hiking; etc...

I'm not even close to bored with guns, because I just found time and money to get back into them after 16 years. :D

I can actually envision the saturation point coming along someday, though I'm a looooooong way from there yet.

The viagra is to take up a new species to hunt. Either plan an African trip, or plan a Canada moose, yak, caribou, and/or griz hunt. Maybe even a polar bear hunt if you've got the jack cheese. I see a .458 Lott or .416 Rigby rifle in your future, along with some snow camo.

That last war era (Vietnam) resulted in this draftee becoming unable to shoot more than a dozen times over a 25 year period.

Sometimes life is good and in the last 5 years I have increased my range shooting from once in a while to a couple of times a week.

I even got involved in the rifle club I joined and shoot a match once a month (I'm always at the bottom of the score sheet, but that does not bother me).

I have even got to where I will go to very limited foothill areas to Coyote hunt. The trick in that sport is to stay still, and minimal movement has not been a problem for me for the past 30 years.

Bored ? I don't think you know what bored is.

Really, if you're bored with your hobbies, have kids. You'll appreciate your hobby time a lot more, if you're worth anything as a husband and father...

LOL - you have no idea how true this is. My last one (22 years old) is moving out in about 3 weeks. I remember when they went off to college being absolutely amazed that I could do my hobbies ANYTIME I wanted.

Casting is what's doing it for me lately . .that and mil-surp rifles. I say that a good challenge for you is buying an M44 Mosin and then trying to make it shoot MOA for less than $100 add'l money. :)

Have a good one,
Dave

Now it's time to begin using all of them, as in hunting and target shooting.

My Dad reached this point at one time too. He is what he did. First he went through the process of getting a class 3 Uzi. Along with that came a lot more reloading. After he was tired of that he got into the Cowboy Action Shooting. That was a lot of fun too.

Get some training, push your gear to the limits, see if you can shoot up to the potential accuracy of your guns (and not just from a bench).

You could always do what our dads did when they got bored with their hobbies... get a mistress. :p

Yeah, it is definitely getting around that time. It is funny that a long time ago I had no qualms about charging a machinegun nest; but the thought of marriage and family turned my blood into ice in my veins.
You know there is something nagging you when ALL of your hobbies start getting kind of ho hum.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Never thought it would happen.....but there is absolutely nothing I need or want.

Give it time!

I worked at a mountaineering store many years ago (outdoor adventure sports are my other big hobby)... In the time I was employed there I pretty much bought everything I thought I could ever possibly need or want. The discounts were huge at the time, so I didn't hold back in what I purchased (particularly before I left the job).

But, anyway, a couple of years went by, and new stuff came out. My needs also changed over that time period. Thus, I found myself back in the stores buying more gear.

Simply put, you may think you are done buying stuff now, but that will likely change in time :)

Judging from the pics you've posted of some of your fabulous guns, I believe there is nothing you "need".

And at the "moment", there may be nothing you "want".
But this will pass. And when it does, we'll be looking forward to the pics.

i got into the sam rut twice. first time i did i litteraly stopped shooting for a few years. I started fishing deap sea fishing, pier fishing. Did it at least once a week. then i started shooting again and then i started getting bored of shooting again. Looking through catalogs did nothing, looking at new guns did nothing. Then all of a sudden i dont know how but i started to get into black powder shooting. I knew nothing of black powder. Not even how to load one or where to get the powder or anything. I started reading everything here in the black powder section. Then i purchased a .50 cal black powder rifle from cabelas. After firing it i was hooked. I then shortly after that purchased a revolver. Now i own 4 revolver and a .50 cal rifle all black powder. Now a few months ago i purchased a conversion cylinder for one of my black powder guns. Now i am loading black powder cartridges casting black powder balls and conicals. i am having a blast. So only question i have for you or anyone else out there when your getting tired of shooting have you ever tried black powder. if not you have a whole another world to explore.

As far as having kids.....been there and done that, now waiting for the grandkids to get a little older. Gonna be a lot of happy grandkids when the collection gets distributed.

Black Powder?....have several black powder guns, enjoy them very much.

Don't mis-understand, I'm not done with the gun hobby....just looking for something different and interesting. New product offerings are somewhat disappointing. Appreciate all the thoughtful suggestions.....

Wow, I was sitting in my armory, "the converted guest bedroom" and kinda wandering saying the same thing. I used to spend hours on line ,gun shows ,everywhere buying collecting , just one more, now.... I'm in a SLUMP also! if you find a ray of sunshine let me know! right now I am picking my favorites AR 10 .308 large safari rifles and a box of handguns to the range, with the hopes I can recoil some new drive, let you know how it goes.
