My Tisas 1911 has been excellent. I am not sure which version it is, but I sure do like it!

The firing pin safety equipped gun's theoretical safety advantage is generally with a drop on the muzzle where the firing pin safety equipped gun will keep the inertial firing pin from moving forward.

Really inexpensive 1911s from I believe Turkey, I have shot some , they shoot ok, not great just ok. The finish, fit, and quality of the controls, is just too chincy, cheap, for me to want one. Rock Island Armory , or a Metro Arms would be a much better choice for just a little more. For an entry level 1911 I would start with either the RIA, or maybe a Taurus, a lot of gun for the money with a Taurus 1911.

Citadel (same manufacturer as RIA, only a bit more upscale) makes a good gun too.

I have a 3.5 CS, with which I've been very happy.

I wanted a plain 1911 to with one exception, I wanted a nice blue instead of parkerized. Folks on here introduced me to this one, it's a cimarron 1918 clone.

Hard to beat Tisas for the money. I got the A1 (no fp block) from Bud's. I recommend the 20.00 lifetime warranty. Never needed it but they have an excellent reputation (Bud's) for their quality and speedy, plus free warranty shipping, warranty work.

Here's mine.

The only difference between the A1 and A2 is that the A2 has the series 80 firing pin safety and the A1 doesn't.

The Tisas is well made for what it is. If you're looking for an inexpensive 1911A1-style beater, i'd advise it, with the rather unobtrusive rollmarks and the wide spur hammer. It looks like a GI gun (i'd replace the grips and the magazine, however). The triggers are quite heavy.
You should be aware of what you're looking at, it's a 350 dollar 1911. Don't expect too much and you won't be let down. It is a good deal. If you can find any close by, try and handle one.

hope this helps -Ray

I handled a tisas in my lgs and didn't like it at all. I saw a ATI american tactical II at a gun show twice for $325. I still don't understand why it didn't sell.

Imashooter, i like your tisas!!!! The one in my lgs had very ugly grips, that one looks much nicer!

[QUOTERock Island Armory , or a Metro Arms would be a much better choice for just a little more][/QUOTE] I agree The pistols made in Philippines . lot better made and been doing it for a while

Consider the Chinese Norinco 1911A1. These guns were caught up in the Norinco ban under Bill Clinton. Mine is a no frills 1911 as you described and one terrific shooter. Many are acquired as a base for a custom 1911. They can be found on GB and don't last long when auctioned or posted as BIN.
