Thinking of changing bullets. Thoughts?

An assortment of bullets being "paid forward" to SC_Dave for many THR members who donated various jacketed/plated/coated bullets last fall for the bullet comparison threads.

As soon as winter rain season ends, will resume range testing - stay tuned.
That's awesome.

Yes, it would help to know wouldn't it. I posted this in a hurry. Didn't mean to leave it out.

It will be used for training and practice only. As I mentioned I'm using a 115gn RN FMJ over 4.5 grns of Win 231.

My reason for considering changing is I am working more on accuracy from 15-25 yds and I want something with a little more consistency.

If consistency and accuracy is your objective, moving from FMJ to plated is the wrong direction.

What weight bullet are your sights set for? Heavier shoots higher. I found that out in practice. My CZ sight mod in progress will be set for 124gr because that is what they typically do. In that case, 124 will be what I load.

I used to subscribe to this notion but not anymore.

For decades, I have used Winchester FMJ as my reference bullet. When Berry's released their thick plated hollow base bullets (HBRN-TP), I was surprised thick plated bullets produced smaller shot groups than FMJ bullets.

When I tested Herco for 9mm at 10 yards, Winchester 115 gr FMJ produced 1.30" shot group while Berry's 115 gr HBRN-TP produced 1.04" shot group. And there are many who will say lead bullets will out shoot FMJ and Z-Cast 124 gr lead RN produced 1.12" shot group - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/9mm-and-herco-for-jacketed-lead-plated-bullets.745656/

Subsequent range test produced 0.85" shot group with KKM barrel and smaller group with Lone Wolf barrel with a flyer - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...eted-lead-plated-bullets.745656/#post-9383008

And with RMR Hardcore Match thick plated bullets with thicker .012"-.014" plating and harder 11-12 BHN core, I got smaller shot groups at 25 yards than with FMJ - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...ick-plated-bullets.761471/page-5#post-9655361

I think this group is not bad for "plated" bullets - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...ick-plated-bullets.761471/page-4#post-9646469

And when I started developing carbine loads, RMR 100 gr Hardcore Match thick plated bullet produced sub 2" groups at 50 yards zipping at close to 1500 fps - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...n-9mm-40s-w-45acp.799231/page-3#post-10245856

I have had excellent results with the RMR 124gr "Target HP" in 9mm. The 124gr RN work well also.
Jake at RMR offers THR members a 5% discount with the code. Shipping is included in the price when ordering from RMR.
Different guns are different but most of my 9s shoot 124/125grs better than 115s.
