Technically, the CCW allows for carry of the firearm for use as self defense in the event YOUR life is in immediate danger. Period. Beyond that, you had better have your lawyer's number on speed dial.

kinda off topic but how did you acquire a CCW in socal?

I work all over California, Nevada and Arizona. My legal residence isn't in SoCal.
