Thought CZ SP-01 frame was aluminum, but it's steel.

I've owned my CZ SP-01 for quite a while now, and always thought that the frame was aluminum, . . . but recently discovered that it is steel. I think I like it that much more now.

Is there something you didn't know about a gun of yours, but found out about it later?

All the time. It's how we expand our knowledge.

In fact, whenever I get a new gun one of the most enjoyable things to do at first, is to research it. (and then clean it of course)

Granted, doing research is a good idea, and I thought I DID know a lot about it. I was just "sure" that the frame was aluminum. I almost even sold it because of the idea of "a steal slide possibly wearing out an aluminum frame". I decided to keep it anyway, but a few days ago my brother said that the frame was steal, and I didn't believe him, but he showed me the CZ site that stated it was steal. Yesterday, I decided to do a test for myself, so took some Bluing and tried it on the inside of the frame [where the barrel rubs against it], and sure enough, the area I tested darkened.

Why not just see if a magnet sticks to it?

Well, that would be a good test too, . . . . . . . so I just did. Magnet stuck to it. I never thought of doing that before because I was "sure it was aluminum".

Anyway, I'm glad I was wrong.

Any others want to tell stories of how they were wrong about a firearm they purchased [whether good or bad]?

I recently found out that the reason the slide on the P99 angles inward as it gets closer to the top, is so that you can focus on the sights more quickly and more clearly when being rushed. I owned the P99 for years and only recently found this out.
