We have had a problem in our rural neighborhood with a strange man coming in our driveways, turning his lights off, and staying a while. This has happened to myself and 2 other neighbors. I armed my old lady with a CZ 82 with Hornady hp's and I just wanted opinions if this is enough for her. I own several other calibers, however she will not shoot anything stronger than a 9mm Luger. I work late at night often and she is afraid. We do have a good guard dog (Doberman) who attacks also. By the way, the strange man is a judge and lawyer in my county.

CZ82 is a fine firearm.

I think the best advice is to talk to the local PD about Mr. Spooky.

Thank y'all for your replies. The pd has been contacted. They said to post no trespassing signs which I already have in place and call 911 the next time he comes out here.

How strange... I'm curious as to his motives. Yes, the Cz-82 is fine. Though the 9x18 is no powerhouse, it is considered adequate by many in-the-know. The magazine capacity is helpful as well. The CZ-82 wouldn't be my first choice for defense, but I wouldn't shy away from it either.

As to his motives this may help. He was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's and his meds have him seeing helicopters and believing that he is being followed.

Personally my edc weapon is a Taurus 24/7 PRO C DS in 45 acp loaded with 12rds of Winchester Ranger t's. When I'm home with her I have that by our bed.

That's sad news indeed. Of course, there are always other creepy characters who may truly mean you or your wife harm. If she's sensitive to recoil but likes the CZ-82 then it's a fine choice. It's a reliable pistol with good capacity, and most folks - even folks who are recoil sensitive - find them easy to shoot accurately.

You probably already have them, but if you don't, some good strong door and window locks will go a long way toward increasing safety. A large protective dog like the Doberman you already have is also a great deterrent, early alert system, and additional layer of defense. Make sure you and she both have a durable and bright flashlight as well. It sounds like you and your neighbors watch out for each others' places, and that's also a huge thing for safety.

It's one of couple pistols from behind Iron Curtain era actually worth owning. The second is CZ75. It can be used for self defense or home defense.
Ok. Third acceptable one was Hungarian clone of FN 'High Power'.

Yes my neighbors are all family and we live on a large family farm, my house being the most secluded, and we do look out for each other. The man's actions were exacerbated by a recent robery he experienced, so we do have so truly bad guys lurking around our area. Next time our schedules permit I'm going to let her try my 40 out. She does like my 38 also, but with similar ballistics and higher capacity I went with the CZ 82 for her.

Pablo J. I also admire the CZ75. My cousin had one and I got to try it out. My groups were great and the ergonomics were perfect for me.

My CZ 82 sits on the nightstand quite often. I do prefer my CZ PO-1 or 75B but I've never had any second thoughts about weather it would do the job or not providing I do my part.
