THR motorcyclists with CCW?

Former biker here.

Had a Sporster 1200 sport, sold it for the down payment on the house when I got married :(

I used to carry a smith 915 in a shoulder rig under my riding vest.

Now the only bike I ride is an ATV and I carry a Service Six in a hip rig, but I not concerned about CCW when I am up in the woods or out in desert trail riding.

Haven't carried while riding yet, still too new at it (riding).

Picked up an '82 Yamaha XJ750 last year, love it.

The best part is, my wife actually likes riding on the back :D

I have three bikes - a Ducati Monster 900 and a new 1000 (gotta sell the 900) and an '74 Norton Commando. Don't ride the Norton much because pretty much everytime I do some on it breaks and it leaks like it has VD. Still its a classic I've had for years and can't stand to part with it.

I carry a S&W340PD when riding or otherwise. I have Vanson leathers where the jacket has an added gun pocket on the left side, mid chest. It carrys the gun at a slight butt forward angle next to the zipper.

Family has three bikes.
Mine: Kawasaki Vulcan 1500-A cruiser (anniversary present from the wife 3.5 years ago)
Wife's/loaner: Honda Rebel 250
Eldest Son's: Honda mini 50 trailbike

I took an Iron Butt ride from Florida to Maine last summer and carried my Makarov in every state it was legel for me to do so. I had a lockbox in my saddlebag to use whenever I was in a non legal state. My way of transporting it to and from the bike at the rest stops for arming and disarming myself was this: I bought an extra shaving kit bag and would put the gun in it in one of the stalls in the bathroom and carry it back out to place inside the lockbox in the saddlebag. Worked pretty good to keep people from freaking out. I felt really weird not having the gun on me in New York, etc. I hope a national carry provision goes into effect soon or the states that don't offer reciprocity finally change their policies, the places you need the gun the most are the ones where you are legally required to be disarmed.

I was extremely happy last year when I finally got to PA from Maine and could put my gun back on (I stopped to visit Dad in Sommerset on the way home to Florida). I felt so much more safe on the ride home from PA since I was armed 99% of the ride.

I've always loved riding cycles, it's kind of a zen relaxation thing, shooting is a similar experience for me.

I'll be selling the 1500 and the 250 soon and using the proceeds as a down payment on a new(er) Vulcan Nomad for more comfortable distance rides for the wife and I. I want to do an Iron Butt Coast-to-Coast ride from Jacksonville, Florida to the west coast of California. Maybe spend some time riding the pacific coast highway after the coast-to-coast is over.

I ride a Ducati Monster and carry a Glock 30 in a Fobus paddle holster.

Been riding for some 50+ years. Currently saddle up on a '96 FXDL Lowrider and an '02 FLHTCUI Ultra-geezer. I carry a Sig P232 .380 and a P239 .40S&W with a Pager Pal holster.

Have NEVER pull my gun while riding and don't plan to.... circumstances surrounding riding and trying to pull a gun at the same time isn’t conceivable to me.

I ride and carry.

I ride a Yamaha Road Star 1600 and usually when riding carry a Combat Commander in an Alessi IWB rig with a leather vest as a cover garment. I ride about 20,000 mikes per year and find this to be about the most comfortable way to go without moving the pistol off body.

Seems there are alot of Monster owners here!

I ride a 04' S4r and carry a sig 239 in a comptac IWB holster.

Hmmm, I ride several. HD Electraglide at work, and open carry, ( duty ya know!:D ) Great to get paid to ride!

I own a Goldwing, and carry either the Glock, or my fav, Gods gun, 1911.

I have only one bike, a 700cc '84 Yamaha Virago, which is also my first. Though I've only been riding now for around 3 years, I've probably put as many miles on this bike as I have my car. It looks and runs great, rides like a dream and cost me under a grand.

The bike pistol (and besides my P32 is the only pistol I carry) is a Kahr K9, which is sitting on the seat though hard to see.

The bike is guarded by my nephew's alligator, who's trashed the garage as you can see (I guess I need to paint over that drylok too, looks like a painter left before his shift was over  ).

don't have a ccw or a way to carry on my klr650 other than in a backpack, but the thought of a gas tank mounted holster for the clutch hand is highly amusing to me, for mission impossible 2-type buffoonery. i'd also love to be able to legally carry a .22 rifle out to the desert somehow, anyone have any ideas on motorcycle long gun transport? the usmc klrs have a handlebar rack for an m16a2/4, but i'd need a lockable case for local laws. i've seen hard cases for atvs, but not sure what a good mounting position would be, on the rear rack somehow or up front? the old war harleys had the tommygun holster on the forks.

I'm looking for a good used KLR 650 myself.
I would want to put on a couple extras:
Corbin seat.
Better Rock Guard.
Military fuel tank.

I'm looking for one of those miltary rifle cases too... that would be sweet.

Back in WWII the bikes uses a rack that went up along the side of the fork. Perhaps that would be a workable way on the KLR.

Oh, and in Mission Impossible, he used a shoulder rig. That would work very well, especially on the crotch rockets.

When I started riding motorcycles again about 3 years ago, after not having ridden since high school, I started out borrowing my son's Kawasaki Ninja 250 ... :uhoh: ... and then quickly picked out a Kawasaki Vulcan 800. Since my wife started wanting to ride with me all the time, I upgraded to a Yamaha Road Star Midnight Star. She also became interested in having her own bike, for when I'm at work, and selected a Yamaha V-Star 1100 Custom

My off duty weapons vary a bit, depending on weather conditions and what I'm wearing in the way of jackets, vests, & shirts. Sometimes it'll be one of my issued weapons (6906 & SW99 .40), and sometimes it'll be one of my personally owned 9mm's, .40's or .45's. More often, though, my common off duty weapon is a 642-1, especially in the warmer weather. It's simply easier to carry comfortably on the bike, especially in warmer weather over by the beaches on the coast.

What's with all the Ducatisti here? Coincidence? I don't think so.

Tim (Multistrada, don't CCW)

FXSTSI

I have been riding over 30 years, CCW less than one year, except for the first couple years it has been all Harley-Davidson. Last Oct. I traded my Sportster of 24 years for a 2004 Soft Tail Springer with EFI, better than sliced bread. Depending on the weather conditions I have a S&W 4513 in a paddle holster or a fanny pack. I also carry a Taurus 415 with a Clipdraw. Of course since I live in Illinois whatever I carry must be unloaded till I hit the wonderfull state of Indiana, about 10 minutes away. The fanny pack works well since I carry the S&W with the mag. loaded but not in the gun, legal in Ill. Keep carrying, keep riding. Jim.

Another Semi Ducati owner here

Well, I ride a Honda CBR 600 F4i, but my dad has a Ducati S4 Monster and a Harley V-Rod. Quite different bikes to suit his mood I guess. :)

No CCW permit, though I've always been curious how I would carry if I had a CCW permit while riding. I came to the conclusion of buying a PM9 and carrying it in my alpinestars chest pocket. The pocket is big enough to carry some small pocket gun. I thought about carrying a jframe revolver but I think it'll buldge too much.

CCW on a bike

No CCW here, yet. Still wrasslin with the issue of seeking 'permision' to utilize my RKBA via CCW. (Colorado is shall issue state) If/when I do pick up a CCW permit, I'm gonna have to get a new jacket, sinc the current leather upper would print really bad. :D Though I suppose I could put the Glock in a tank bag.

As far riding, been doing that since 1993 when I picked up a Kawi EX500 in red. Nice little standard with Sport Bike styling. And sport bike cost to fix as I learned when I dropped it in '95 (low speed panic grab on the front brake - FLOP CRUNCH!). Main ride is a '94 Suzuki Intruder 800, in red of course. Pre-retro sytyling on the Intruder, which I like better than the Harley-Davidson clones.

I ride a '92 BMW R100GS and a '90 Suzuki VX800. My usual CCWs are a Star M43 in a Milt Sparks Summer Special or a Para C7.45 in a Sparks VM2. Both are IWB with untucked polo shirt for concealment when the riding jacket comes off.

"Alway" gun is a Keltec P32 in a Don Hume pocket holster carried in the weak-hand side jacket pocket.

Take a look at my user name.

I'm riding a Harley Softail Custom; one of a long line of bikes I've ridden over the past 40+ years.

I haven't started riding this season, yet, but will carry any of several weapons in pocket holster in the jacket or IWB holster.

Musta ridden round the world three or four times in mileage done on 2 wheels over many years!

Current ''steed'' is Honda VTX1300C4 ...... nearly finished tricking out ... rides great and since new pipes sounds even better! :p

Always carry ... if a jacket or vest in use then it's SP-101 as usual - OWB hi-ride 3.30 ... once too hot for top cover then fanny pack or .. now could well be just the R9S in pocket - that'll work.

i just started riding a street bike about 2 months ago. i bought a '95 Kawi EX500 for my first bike. its light, has enough power to have fun, but not enough to get me into too much trouble. bright red, looks pretty good. has some scratches from previous owners. it handles fairly well, but is jittery in bumpy roads. i need to soften up the rear shock a bit. bought it used an cheap so i wouldn't feel too bad if i dropped it, which i did already. so far its been a good little bike. virtually no power below 4k rpm, but it comes on pretty strong after that. after i gain some more experience, i'd like to move up to a BMW R1150R or R1150RSA. next summer, my cousin and i plan on buying some dirt bikes to go play in the mud. i have my eye on the Kawi KLX300R. i'd like to make a dual sport out of it. i'll have to wait and see on that.

as for firearms, i carry the same thing when i ride as i do all the time. that being an HK USP Compact .40 in a Blade-Tech IWB and spare mag on the other side. its plenty comfortable and secure.

Bobby
