THR thread inevitabilities

Someone apparently oblivious to the B.S. content of this and other gun boards will criticize a Wikipedia reference as unreliable.

Oh yeah, great thread.

646. (I think) Whenever the thread concerns a less-expensive pistol, but sometimes even a Glock, some poster will interject that he (or someone he knows) had one of the subject pieces and it was a jamomatic POS. Particular favorites: Keltec, Bersa, Taurus, etc. This comment never happens with the [European] semiautos; it happens invariably with a Jennings, Bryan, Jimenez, etc.

647. Whenever Rohrbaugh comes up in a thread, someone inevitably opines that he could buy two guns (or a gun just as good but cheaper, leaving headroom for holster, ammo and accessories) for the R's price - and often, that the Rohrbaugh is a jamomatic POS anyway.

648. Whenever the poster asks a gun question, positing carefully what gun he/she DOESN'T want, someone will within 5 replies - tops - explain why the OP needs precisely that gun. Not reading 175 threads I can sort of understand, but shouldn't everybody be reading the original?

Well, I don't know about the rest of you buckaroos and buckarettes, but I am taking all this to heart and will not make THESE mistakes.

All of you who are doing these things, wouldja stop? LOL

Any thread where the OP is considering a SAA pattern revolver costing over 1K will be advised that "they could buy a Colt for that" within a half-dozen posts max.

Oh, gotta play:

3.a. (from 1st post) - "Where can I buy vitriol, and will it clean crud other than blackpowder? Does it work better than other oils"

I make my own vitriol at home out of old coffee grounds, motor oil, gasoline, and Windex and it works better than any commercial stuff. It'll clean BP, leading, corrosive salts, and even refinish my Mosin stocks.

5) Use of the phrase "trauma plate" will inevitably result in someone else suggesting duct taping them on, usually within seven posts.

:D

Now, that's funny!
Everybody knows that one of the main uses for duct tape is to secure your 30-year old mailbox to its post!

Anyway, I don't know what number we're on, but I've noticed that discussions about terminal ballistics get pretty heated at times:

"Surely you're not suggesting that a .50 caliber hits harder than a .22! How moronic! How stupid! You must come from a long line of morons, doctor!"

"The 9mm gets 10 feet more penetration than a .45, thus proving its superiority."

"Slow and heavy vs. Fast and light..."

etc. etc.

:D

My turn:

649) When a thread mentions Hollywood and/or celebrity gun owners, someone will be surprised that, despite playing Lara Croft, Angelina Jolie is really anti-gun.

650) "The local gunstore owner has no personality and is rude to me."

It's inevitable that anytime Gunkid is mentioned, the assault wheelbarrow will be mentioned either in the same post or pretty soon after it.

The Assault Wheelbarrow concept was and still is ahead of it's time...

I don't know what number we're on...
!) When someone mentions videogames on this forum, it will be no longer than 10 minutes before someone posts "Videogames aren't real-life!".
@) Whenever a religious/political/racist/extremist fanatic posts a thread saying "Minority group X shouldn't have guns, don't you think so?", someone will think of a well-thought out response that completely debases their argument, take 15 minutes to type it up and return to find that the thread has been locked already.

651) Someone will ask about the .17HMR or .17HM2 and several posters whose sole experience with them has been seeing a box of 17 ammo on the WalMart shelf will chime in declaring that the rimfire 17s are worthless and will soon be obsolete.

Moderators will jump into goofy threads like this one and demonstrate that they are not the ogres that some people think they are.

652) Any discussion of PSLs will inevitably involve a comment that they're not really SVDs, regardless of whether this is at all relevant to the specific discussion at all.

And yes, I'm guilty of that.

653) Someone will come in at the tail end of the thread after only reading the first few and last few posts and repeat something that was mentioned at least once before.

Oh wait, did somebody already say that...? :D

LOL! IMHO, FWIW, this is the funniest THR thread I've seen, IIRC.

654)Somebody will use some abbreviation that will take me a couple minutes to figure out, if I ever do.

654)Somebody will use some abbreviation that will take me a couple minutes to figure out, if I ever do.

Some appear to have this motto: IDKWITABISSA.

(Translation: I Don't Know What I'm Talking About But I'll Say Something Anyway.)

:D

Somebody'll say something a lot like posts 192 and 193 and somebody'll come on and say "Good'un".:D Yup... that'd be me.

Any time someone mentions that they don't have a CCL or are not able to get one (cost, etc) there will be at least one poster who will call those without CCLs "unarmed victims waiting to be led to slaughter" (or something along those lines)

#665 or 6, can't tell which.

In any thread about roaming dogs;

Some dog fearin' person will say " I'll shoot any dog that makes me feel threatened".

Some dog lovin' person will say "I'll shoot anyone that shoots my dog"

Someone will ask "what caliber for dog"

Wheeler44

Edit to add; the last question will start the 9mm. vs. .45 ACP war all over again.

a) the day when the san andreas fault line breaks california neatly off the rest of the united states at the border lines and sinks that GODFORSAKEN CESSPOOL OF LIBERALITY into the ocean will be one of much rejoicing.

b) joe newgunowner asks anxiously about his worries that his repeated dry firing of his new gun will result in damage to his $500 gun. joe is also too cheap to buy a snap cap, wants to know what secret dry firing method will not cause metal to strike on metal.

Finally got around to joining THR, so....

Someone will refer to someone's choice of arms as a "nickel plated sissy gun"

Rack That Slide!

Number 666: In a discussion of weaponry for home defense, someone will observe that "the sound of racking the slide on a pump shotgun is one of the most intimidating sounds there is," causing the bad guy to break off his nefarious plan and depart.

This will inevitably be debunked several times over the next few pages.

Name calling can be expected.
