THR thread inevitabilities

It's page 6 of this thread, and no one has mentioned that the SKS (Russian, Chinese, Yugo) is far more accurate than an AK, and then of course, someone one will chime in that an AR will shoot the eye out of a fly at 100 yards. Someone else will then chime in that for the price of this, you can buy three of those.:)

65) In the caliber pissing war between .45 and 9mm, the RC Cola drinker of the handgun world will champion .357 sig.
Actually, I drink RC Cola, and real RC drinkers carry .44 Special. :)

Oh, and has anyone mentioned Mall Security?

Someone will not bother to read the thread title or any of the posts and simply post why Glocks are the best handgun ever.

That may already be posted...I didn't read all the posts.:)

Someone will bash Glocks if they can without even reading the question or problem given in the post.
Someone will believe that something they saw in a movie is true and quote the heck out of it.
Someone might end their reply with, just a second I think I hear the JBT's knocking at my door.
.
Of course, what do I know, I am only a human.

Someone will find a weeks/months/years old thread and post to it as if it's only days old...

- Kimber's reliability (or lack thereof?) will pop up in 1/2 of the threads pertaining to 1911s
- "Is [insert caliber here] sufficient for deer?" will pop up at least once a week in the handgun or rifle forums. Not uncommon for these threads to contain a reply of how someone "took down a _____" with .22LR.
- In response to an inquiry about Mosin recoil, there will be at least one response about how it kicks something awful

Someone will find a weeks/months/years old thread and post to it as if it's only days old...

...and sure as they do, a moderator... usually Justin, but sometimes others... will come along and lock the thread just when the conversation picked back up again.

My favorite: I just (bought/inherited/traded/found) this gun it has a long round thing on top and little thing underneath and it's either a .22 or a 458 Winmag and could you tell me what it (is/worth). With no pictures.

Quickly followed by someone who will say "It's a POS ....send it to me and I'll dispose of it for you."

Any discussion which mentions M1's will quickly bring a lecture on the worthlessness of a rifle that doesn't shoot factory ammo.

Any discussion which mentions M1's will quickly bring a lecture on the worthlessness of a rifle that doesn't shoot factory ammo.

I don't recall whether it's been mentioned or not, but the M1/ammo thing is just like how any mention of the British Enfield will bring up a whole lot of handoading. Unless were discussing MJ's L42A1's.:D

Someone will express disgust at the stereotype of gun owners as ignorant backwoods morons; however, their poor grammar and spelling will render their post almost unreadable.

Common errors:
They’re – their – there
Your – you’re
Than - then
ALL CAPS and no punctuation
no caps and no punctuation

Which leads to the other eventuality, someone will dredge up a post so old and so long that a person will post on the newest page pretty much what they posted on the first page.

Someone will read only the first few posts on the first page, then immediately jump to the last page to post a reply, saying something that was already posted on an in-between page.

:p

When Blackwater is mentioned, the word "merc" will shortly follow.

The poster of the "merc"-word will be metaphorically beaten about the head by the m... er... operators ;)

I offer a bit of a THR paradox:

Any mention of open-carry inevitably results in somebody essentially calling the poster and idiot.
|
Any criticism of somebody advocating open-carry inevitably results in somebody essentially calling the critic an anti.
|
Accusations of members being anti inevitably leads to flame wars.
|
Flame wars inevitably lead to thread locks

So I ask you: 9mm or .45?

Someone will read only the first few posts on the first page, then immediately jump to the last page to post a reply, saying something that was already posted on an in-between page.

I thought that was the point?

So I ask you: 9mm or .45?

See THR thread inevitabilities; Numbers 42, 46, 52, 54, and 65.

But if you ask me i'd reccomend a 12-gauge ;)

Damn, that was easy.

some you don't see too often, but it could have hapened

a) When me & Bill Jordan used to work the Nogalas station,,,,

b) I showed Jeff Cooper this new move I discovered,,,,

c) Me & Elemer (Keith) used to trap in Upstate New York in the 20's,,,,,

d) When I was on the beach at Iowa Jima, I had the first ultra secrete prototype XM-16,,,,

e) So when I was bailing out of the burning Mustang, I saw Chuck Yeager splash that Mig that shot me up,,,,

gee this is fun. Why bother posting any new threads!!:neener:

In a thread about carrying at work or in the parking lot at work, it's all about "private property rights". Give me a break. As if Chevron, AT&T, IBM, Ford Motor et al. are just like old Cletus or Joe-Bob next door, "sweat, bad breath, everything".

Yeah, I know about "the juristic person" from business admin classes. I'm afraid of people who fall for that stuff.

I'm becoming a little bit of an anarchist in my old age, I reckon.

It's time for a little change...

down with cottage cheese!

go Tillamook!!!! :D

btw - very entertaining thread. I do like to poke fun at the internet forums since I've discovered them in the last year. Before that, I posted from time to time on vehicle forums and the debates there are as *insert proper word here*.

69) This one goes along with the earlier posts of wanting to know about Option A or Option B and being recommended Option C. A poster will ask for gun recommendations for a particular purpose. Despite a number of guns rather well suited for this purpose, the poster will insist that the board only chooses between two rather bad decisions. Examples of this are, "I need a gun for concealed carry, should I get a Kel-Tec PLR-16 in .223 or a Colt 4th model derringer in .22 short. I like the size of derringer but the power and capacity of the PLR-16. Please don't recommend any other guns as these are the only two I will consider." Despite the fact this is an asinine question, a lively debate will follow about the two options. Should anyone dare suggest a reasonable option, perhaps any of the 50 or so popular guns that would be several orders of magnitude more appropriate for the task, they will be informed of the original poster's desire and chastised for not reading the original post.

70) Dozens of various people will ask for recommendations in various threads. One poster will recommend a certain gun in each and every case as being the perfect gun for the task. If you check the poster's history, you will find that he is 17 and went handgun shooting for the first time two months ago. His uncle has the handgun in question and after firing two magazines worth of ammo, the poster has decided that this gun is fit for every purpose under the sun. It is also available in Ghost Recon.

71) The poster will experience a slight inconvenience at a store that makes the majority of its revenue from the sales of firearms, ammo, and related items. Despite the minor and seemingly reasonable inconvenience, the poster will declare that said business is antigun/antifreedom, has violated his second amendment rights, and needs to be forever boycotted. The store's offenses would be such flagrant infringements as asking the poster to wait a moment while the cashier changes the register tape, only stocking 3 flavors of 6.5 Grendel ammo, or not allowing customers to wander around the aisles of the store carrying open range bags full of shooting equipment. Several posters will agree and declare that almost every gun store is antigun/antifreedom as they require payment for a gun with which to exercise one's rights. Anyone who replies saying that they like the business in question or posts that the transgressions didn't constitute infringement will be labeled as antigun/antifreedom and/or a corporate shill.

72) A poster with almost 1000 posts advising folks in subjects from gun selection to small group tactics to proper shooting technique will come forward one day with a celebratory post saying that he has finally bought his first gun and went shooting for the first time. He will express his surprise at how loud guns really are and that the recoil is something more than he expected. He will then ask for a recoil pad suggestion for his new Ruger 10/22 to go with the muzzle brake/laser sight he is ordering.

73) Someone will be offended by my rampant fact/logic-based hysteria bashing and I will get a PM asking if am I just an "angry old **** head". I will laugh and reply that I am not that old.

74) Inevitably every day here I will learn something, laugh at something, sigh forlornly at the state of the world, and hopefully share something useful or funny. That was so sappy I'm going to go kick my own ass.

643. Someone will ask a "Which gun for...?" question specifically noting that they do not want a 1911/Glock followed by several posters insisting that they get a Glock/1911.

644. Someone will quote a half page post, usually including several pictures, in reference to a single line in that post.

645. In the revolver forum after a .357/.44 thread starts someone mentions that they own six revolvers in .41magnum have carried one for 20 years and reload .41 shells for just $0.06 each.

At least one poster will respond to another post with "Now that's the funniest thing I've read..."

48. At the current rate of THR revisionism and libertarianism the Confederacy will win the Civil War sometime in 2012.

By the way... that is the funniest thing I've read!

"I learned everything I know about guns from this great guy called GunKid.":uhoh:

Oh come-on, stop laughing at me for printing that one, it is inevitable that sooner or later someone is going to say so.:neener:

All the best,
Glenn B

It's inevitable that anytime Gunkid is mentioned, the assault wheelbarrow will be mentioned either in the same post or pretty soon after it.

Someone with a post count of 2000 will post something dreadfully mean about how stupid message boards are and how useless they are to everyone but the most penultimate net-losers.

Best thread I've read on a gun site in a loooong time. Ought to be required for every new member.

Oh, gotta play:

3.a. (from 1st post) - "Where can I buy vitriol, and will it clean crud other than blackpowder? Does it work better than other oils"
