THR thread inevitabilities

Number 667: Some newb will want to comment on a neat thread, but feel obligated to spend the next hour reading the entire thread prefatory to commenting.

^^^
Said newb will eventually decide that too much time is wasted reading long threads. He/she will post on page 6 without reading other's comments. Some senior member will berate said newb for failing to notice post #45, where the newb's point was proven invalid.

Ha! Not a chance!

141. Benneli's are god.

That is just silly. Benellis are merely God's first, last, and only choice of shotgun.

People trying to make themselves sound like they are the GOD of the gun world.

I am merely a goddess in training. Maybe in ten years...

ALL CAPS and no punctuation

What On Earth Do You Mean Why Do You Have To Insult My Intelligent And Illegible Discourse Just Because I Have Failed To Notice That Capital Letters Aren't For Starting Every Word With And That There Are Things Called Periods And Sentences Sixth Grade Was Good Enough For Me Anyway

643. Someone will ask a "Which gun for...?" question specifically noting that they do not want a 1911/Glock followed by several posters insisting that they get a Glock/1911.

Of course there is the shotgun corollary:

#669 Anyone looking for any shotgun at all, from Perazzi to old Montgomery Ward, from Eye-tie to Chi-com, needs an 870. Defensive shooters need an 870. Clay shooters need an 870. Hunters need an 870. Women need an 870 and 15 year olds and old guys all need 870s.

#670 Benellis are overpriced. All Benellis are always overpriced. If you bought a Benelli you are a sap who bought the slick marketing.

Other inevitabilities:

#671 All posters will be, quite fairly, assumed to be men. This assumption will not be mitigated by alluding to nursing babies, having a husband, or any other feminine allusion. No matter what, someone will tell me to clear it with the wife. Ok, so that one only happens sometimes, but it's still funny. :p

#672 Every week will see another "What gun for the little lady" thread. And every week some woman poster will be told to get over it, it's just the culture, and we're too sensitive anyway.

#673 Any time you ask "what rail system for X platform" you get at least one picture of the "swiss army AR".

#674 When someone is selling something they get the "I bought two of those for half the price just yesterday". (Yes, I've done it)

#675 In any disscussion about a concealed carry pistol, if you mention a .38 you get the "will not penatrate a car window" debate within eight threads.

heh... Fun stuff. Cool (and surprising) that such a thread is this old. Nice.

Here's a couple I didn't see...

#676 The likelihood of thread lock is directly proportionate to the dryness of a humorous comment.

#677 "Humor" or a "sense of humor" is totally subjective and often arbitrary.

#678 Some of the members can resist a flip comeback some of the time, but all of the members cannot resist a flip comeback all of the time.

"letting God sort them out" will appear to be followed by Jeff White's standard lecture number 7 on blood thirsty postings.
Most generally then followed by threadlock once it has reached this point of decay.

#679 - Someone will do something that is perfectly harmless within their circumstances, and post about it. The first 15 responses will be the safety nazi's talking about irresponsible that person is, and they shouldnt be allowed to own guns, without even knowing the circumstances. Some people actually have to do this to make themselves feel good.

#680 - A moderator who believes that everyone should have a gun to protect themselves, (despite the odds against actually needing one), will ridicule anyone who talks about owning body armor, or defeating criminals with body armor. He will lock the thread and mention that there are no actual verifiable instances of this happening. When another thread is started by listing multiple links to news stories where this did happen the thread will be locked without further comment. Apparently how far a person can go to protect themselves and their families is limited to what he thinks is needed.

#681 - Halfast will start writing a great story and I will resolve not to start reading it until it is done. I will of course break down and start reading it after I see a "Next Chapter Posted" update.

#682 - Someone will ask about which .223 round is best for self defense and the afore-mentioned safety nazis will jump out screaming that you are a terrible neighbor and an irresponsible person for using ammo that will penetrate your walls and travel for miles like a heat seeking missile until it strikes a child in a nursery. Think I am joking?
Remember that YOU are responsible for where any bullet you fire ends up. Hit a kid after a .223 bullet goes the several miles after exiting your house and YOU are guilty.

#683 - Someone will tell us that if we dont vote for Rudy that we are voting for Hillary. Someone else will point out that Rudy may actually be worse than Hillary. There will dozens of responses to this on both sides. While the "gun world" fights against itself it will neglect for the most part to actually do anything, except for a few individuals. (Thanks to hso, Correia, and those who have actually DONE something to preserve what rights are left for us younger guys. Special thanks to Oleg for his posters, shirts, and forums.)

#684 - Despite the presence of the posers and know-it-alls mentioned, THR will continue to be the FIRST and BEST resource I turn to when I want to ask questions of some of the most knowledgeable gun people in the world. Chew the fish and spit out the bones :D It is the single best educational tool for newbies there is!

685) Any thread where R. Lee Ermey is mentioned will have at least one poster unwittingly making homoerotic comments.

686) Same with Jeff Cooper

687) Any mention of anti-Gun articles in the British press will result in posters claiming Britain as a lost cause/circling the drain even though a very similar article appeared in the American media yesterday.

688) A question about which everyday objects that can used for self-defence will be posted every week, usually while 3 other threads on the exact same topic are still visible.

If a newspaper writer says something good about guns/RKBA/CCW/etc. they shall reign as king or queen. If they say something bad they shall be shot simply for the irony of it.

692) Any mention of the term 'safe' instead of 'RSC' will immediately derail any effort on the part of the OP to find a suitable storage device for their firearms.

Almost forgot...someone's going to mention that .45 ACP is God's favorite pistol round.:) and all the 9mm was developed by that other fella down below.

-"Is (non-gun related company) anti-gun?"
-Someone will bash the NRA and say that they're horrible sell-outs because they send the OP mail which they can easily opt out of. Oh and because the NRA isn't demanding full-auto open carry in D.C. they're sell-outs.

693) Any time a well-known person or organisation is described as anti-gun there will be 20 people debating this and another 20 claiming it's irrelevant anyway. Claims will be made about cartoons, adult magazines, makers of feminine hygiene products etc.

694) Somebody will post a question asking about concealed weapons badges, and will practically be laughed out of the world for being so stupid, even though this person may be new.

around that time Gecko45 and his posse will be brought up along with the sequel to the tactical wheelbarrow, the "retail center mobile response unit".

..followed by, but not limited to, at least 5 different quotes about protecting the young boys in the bathrooms...
