First of all, THR is an excellent forum. I have gotten lots of very useful information from it, as I'm sure many of us have. But, when I see the thread starters listed below I sometimes want to scream:

1) Anything related to TEOTWAWKI scenarios.
2) Anything related to SHTF scenarios.
3) What's in your bug-out bag?
4) Got pulled over last night....
5) Price check on whatever.
6) Open carry when the author discusses how he/she open carried wherever
and no one cared.

Just my opnion. Fire away!

The first two (maybe three) describe firearm owners that live in a movie fantasy world of a wannabe action hero....

Anything with "9mm", .45 auto/ACP", "Glock", or "1911" in the title. :p

Lately, "My POS *fill in the blank*!!!", or something similar, is starting to make me a little wary of opening the thread....

But then it's always a crap-shoot anyway.... A lot of threads that look promising from their title end up being duds, while others that first look to be "one of those" turn out to be pretty good.

In the end, none of 'em cost anything to read so it really doesn't matter. If the thread sucks, move on to the next, no harm done. *shrug*

Have you ever been pulled over by a cop on your way to a TEOTWAWKI meeting to get a price check on your wonder nine in a bug out bag because you got into trouble for open carry infront of your wife's family causing the S to HTF.:D

I find the first three to be of some use to a point, until people start saying they stock, "At least 2,000 rounds of 7.62x39, 5,000 rounds of 9mm, two mortars, 6 rpg's......" :neener:

The bug out bag stuff can be helpful as I think it's prudent for everybody to have basic essentials in their cars all the time....first aid kit, flashlight, etc. To me, that's a bug out bag; enough stuff to hold me through 24 hours of stalled traffic on the beltway.

4,5, and 6 get tiring real quick.

TEOTWAWKI

The End Of The World As We Know It. Closely related to When The (****) Hits The Fan.

I also agree with the definition of bug out bag. If you got time to load up all the extra junk, you're not buggin' out, you're camping.

The above posts share my thinking exactly. It's what I've always wanted to say but never could put it in words.

Thanks for the clarification.

As for the thread subject, I'm too new to critique. :)

none of the threads really bother me but some of the funnier titles i've seen lately-

what gun jams at at school shootings?
which gun for armored car jobs?

i guess if i had to pick one that irked me it'd be the "tell me about . . . ."

which ranges from montana to milsurps. i mean its fine to ask, but how bout we rephrase it ONCE in a while

Lately, there have been far too many threads that discuss or critique The High Road. This reminds me of television shows that are about television shows and movies (Entertainment Tonight, etc.). The worst of these are threads that complain about certain types of threads.

-"The affects of .308s on duct-taped ceramic plates"
-"Tactical Wheelbarrows".
-"What gun for my dog, goldfish, cat, ferret, parakeet..."
-"Moderators are idiots"
-"We need a forum for Ted Williams rifle with SN TW123XXX"
-"How come THR does NOT have a Search Function, Library, Rules of Conduct, or Any Referenced sites ? *wink*

Besides, everybody knows tm Pink Gorillas carry cocked and locked 1911s, and can do a full bore, tulip-tipped, gyratin' hip, purple spat...get down and make'em cry, beg for more..."Son, this just ain't your Day",...strategical, tactical and "more...more" crowd begging boogie!

WE don't need no stinkin' wheelbarrows.

"My husband/wife/BF/GF/grandpa/grandma/3rd-removed-aunt-from-my-mother's-side is anti! What do I do?!?!?!"

500 channels and nothing to watch?

Just like anyother media, 90+% of the bandwidth is wasted on banal blather. Also, when it's all new to you, there's much to learn. After a while, you become more discriminating as your areas of interest firm up and focus.

Tactical wheelbarrows!!!

You've got to be kidding, everybody knows that tactical garden waggons are much more practical for an TEOTWAWKI situation, expecially when pulled behind a camo bycycle. Why when I was in the Army, when TSHTF we----------

This a forum about guns and gun related situations, politics, prices, ammo, etc. where one should feel comfortable about discussing gun related issues with like minded people. Why should these subjects be criticized?

Any of these threads that get replies are interesting to at least two people. I don't have to read 'em.

Lately, I cringe everytime someone wants us to tell them to shoot a neighbor's cat. But at any party there's some topic you just don't care for. Most of the time I just circulate to another discussion that interests me.
