Every SX-1 barrel that I have seen would not be able to take any factory chokes, like a Winchoke, unless the barrel was swaged to increase the outer diameter, which is almost a forgotten and obsolete method.
All of my custom installations are sized to have the wall thickness of the remaining barrel material at a sufficient level, while allowing for the largest diameter choke tube, for maximum strength.
You might also consider trying just a choke opening to an IC or Skeet level, rather than a tube installation, since the expense is about half of the choke hole work.
Some of the SX-1 barrels can be tricky to rework at the muzzle, since there is some variation in the muzzle finish, rib attachment, post beveling, and other details that are only apparent to a choke installer once the barrel is there. Any quote that I give to a customer is always predicate on the final inspection to confirm the lack of surprises, or verify the extra finishing details.
The problem with the pre-made tubes is that they will never be sized to fit near the bore size of the individual barrel, except those barrels with the bore size near the maximum acceptable size that those tubes can clear. The main best selling point for pre-made tubes is that they have the mass-production savings, and not the custom made and fit price. I only make tubes that fit, after the hole is in the barrel. I only recommend these special tubes for the shooter that wants better than the average shooter. Someone wanting a bargain and willing to accept the mass-produced fit and finish will not be trying for a custom job, as a first choice. I do the jobs that others can't do, such as the larger-bored barrels that can't be fit, or thinner barrels, or extra-long internal chokes, or other specialty details.
