It shows 4166 right next to IMR4064, 4451 is just slower than IMR4350, and 7977 sits between MagPro and H1000.

Oh Boy!!!

I use 4350 in most of my 30-06 loads so I'm excited to try the new IMR4451, if I can ever find any! :cuss:

So it looks like 4166 for the .308 and 4451 for the 30-06, that will work...

Thanks for the heads-up...

Interesting that Hodgdon is bringing out new powders when they can't keep up with production of their current powders. I would love to see some CFE Pistol and BLC-2.

Maybe it's precisely because they can't keep up with demand for current powders that they are introducing new powders from Canada. Just a thought.

Actually, the new powders are easier to make and most of the older powders are more complex to manufacture. Add the fact the new powders have some cool additives like flash suppression and copper fouling erasers, I for one am glad they are bringing out new powders.

Has anyone taking the plunge and tried any of them? I am interested in 4166 for 308 and 223, the extreme powders are what I try to use anyway, in Virginia you get 4 actual seasons and I would rather not have to think about temperature when loading

Me too. I have a 270 that copper fouls like crazy.

I just hope that easy to manufacture translates into greater availability.

I wonder what my reloading life would be like if my powder supply consisted of CFE Pistol, CFE 223, and these three new IMR "Enduron" powders. Sounds good on paper....I guess I'm assuming that the CFE's are some of the "easier to make" powders.

Good to see theyre joining the 21st century with the copper/temp stuff.
they did this back in the 20th century , and dropped it due to bad sales, everything I have read tells me this stuff works great , but so did the old stuff , lets hope it sells , anyone wanting to jump on the bandwagon might want to pick up "HOGDON 2015 ANNUAL MANUAL" , I have one sitting in front of me right now , lots of good info in it , hope it sells and hangs in there , but I just cracked open a 8lbs keg of H-4831sc and have 3lbs of H-414 and 2lbs of H-380 and 2lbs of IMR4320 , so I wont be needing anything for a long time ,

Finally shot some 4451. Used same load as IMR 4350. didn't chronograph set-up so no idea of velocity. 3 shots measured .25 and pulled one in string, so whole group was .65"

Very pleased.

Only shot 5 shots. Bore already had 10 rounds through it. Just cleaned so will put 20 rounds thru with just 4155 and report back. Will also chronograph and compare same charge of 4350, 4155 and Rl-17.

4155 looks very promising.

Am also going to try with 150 gr in 7mm Mag. Hodgdon guide gives conflicting info on 6mm vs 7mm mag.

thanks , take your time , it will be some time before I burn through the stock I have :)

bump

all 3 of these are on shelves in local store. anyone try them yet?

I have some 4166 to try out on .30-06 but with two younger kids, getting out to the range to eval/chrono them is hard. I only saw 4166 once and haven't seen it again. I haven't seen any 4451 around here. I was originally interested in that for .30-06 but it requires significantly more powder for the same performance so I'm not sure I'll bother.

I hope I can get my hands on some of those soon.

I especially want to give 4451 for .270 win. a test drive. I'm currently working with 7828 in .270 win. and getting some awesome velocity and accuracy. But hey, if 4451 will do what they say it will, while keeping pace with the accuracy and velocity I get with 7828, I may change gears. We'll see.
