Time for a WMD joke!

I tell ya what, President Bush must be pretty confident that his base will carry him through to crack a joke about WMDs.

Prediction: the usual suspects will be LIVID that he would dare make such a remark after 580 soldiers have died in Iraq.

Personally, I'm still voting for him, but I am pretty surprised he "went there".

With 90% of the electorate "set in stone" why risk offending any of the remaining 10%?

Way to go chimpy.

Well it IS funny. Saddam The Psychotic (aka "Sadly Insane") went through all kinds of gyrations to make us THINK he had WMDs. Oooops. File THAT under "bad ideas"!

'Specially when you tried to geek the father of the current US Prez. AND were running death camps that gave us all the excuse we really needed to go pancake his dumb butt.

So ya, ya gotta laugh.

I thought the jokes were both funny and ballsy last night. Confidence in action. It's one of the traits I look for in a leader.

Did any of you actually see the speech?

No, but it doesn't matter. ANYTHING this President does is spun in the media as the the greatest evil since the Garden of Eden.

Leftists cry about the rough treatment President Clinton got from the right , and they are correct - it was over the top. The difference is the mainstream media was FOR Clinton but now they are AGAINST Bush.

Its not just a few extremists this time, its the extremists plus the media.

Its not like the media likes John Kerry - they don't.

The whole of it is, don't vote FOR John Kerry, vote AGAINST President Bush.

The fact remains. The communists always infiltrate the media before destoying a country.

The US Media is only a few years behind the UK Media.

Who notes J. Edgar Hoover was RIGHT! Imagine my dissapointment.

It was stupid. Period.

For the President to make light of the issue plays into the hands of his enemies and the press. That's not a smart thing to do.
I don't care how you slice it and it wasn't taken out of context either....

When I saw it this morning on the news I about blew coffee out my nose it was so funny. Then they cut to people who were all pissy about it. People really need to get a sense a humor. 10-1 says Bob Hope would've made that same joke.

...I wonder how the media would take it if Klinton was president and did the same thing.

Baba Louie hit it dead on....he's got my vote

It's funny, watch it. He makes fun of himself! It's quite funny....

I know this man is getting my vote, not for his humor, but because he's a decent leader, and a heck of a lot better than "Hanoi" Kerry could be.

I agree with Baba Louie.

He is sure of himself, comportable in his own skin, and actually stands for something. He is confident enough to make fun of himself in front of the news media, an avowed enemy. I may not agree with all of his somethings, but we need a real leader right now.

I pretty much agree with what's been said. I don't see anything wrong with anything he said and I think it's refreshing to have a president who isn't too busy worrying about how to cover his little man's tracks to crack a joke. IMO anyone offended by the jokes listed in that link (I can't comment further because I didn't see it) is just looking for another justification for their hatred of bush.

I thought it was pretty funny.

But then again, I know that we went in to kick Saddam out for more than just WMD.

Most of streamline America doesn't get to see what the military folks on the ground there do.

I admit, I wasnt over there this time but I know ALOT who were and from what I heard Iraqi people are a whole lot happier these days.

if someone finds video, post it. i'll see if it's nearly as amusing as clintons "final days" video

I've heard the audio clips. I figured they'd found a way to resurrect Bob Hope, without his writers. The whole display was unseemly, lame, and weird. I'm of the school that you don't mock yourself before your enemies, especially when we are at war and our nation's survival is at stake. Call me a stick. As for the need for humor, I think Michael Savage went right to the point. Why was the humor directed at himself and not at OUR ENEMIES?

Sometimes I think this Election was decided long ago in that Tomb in New Haven, one Bonesman to another...

Sometimes I think the whole country is having a trickle-down nervous breakdown.

I think Michael Savage went right to the point.

Like you, Michael also admitted later in the show that he had only heard the clips when he formed his opinion. You had to see the whole thing live to really get it. It was hillarious. Those of you who did not have the opportunity to see it live need to remember that your getting the media's version now...with all the creative editing and commentary that entails.

I saw some clips on the news and while it wasn’t up to Dennis Miller’s standard (DM’s sarcastic comments on photos are his only good shtick these days) it was pretty good for an amateur. I wouldn’t trust a man who couldn’t make fun of himself. I don’t like a lot of Mr. Bush’s socialist political agenda, but he is a real leader and that’s not bad.

I gather that if I'd seen it I'd have realized he wasn't making fun of himself...?

The issue is whether, in that venue, while the 9/11 hearings are going on, that whole line of "humor" was appropriate for a standing President who is, rather clearly, under siege.

I prefer Bush to Kerry, for survival reasons, but that doesn't mean I don't have a lot of questions about both of them.

A man with a sense of humor about himself, that's good, but right now, with a war on, I'd really don't need a Buddha in the White House.

I watched it live last evening, and thought it was funny. This isn't the first time that Bush has attended these dinners, and at every one he makes fun of himself, usually by making fun of something about him that the press has been critical of.

Imagine Clinton doing something like that, perhaps turning the podium around and saying, "see, no interns under here!"
