I had an auto alert email set up from Midway to notify me when they got more CCI small pistol primers in stock. The email arrived today.
I read it within 3 minutes of Midway's send time, booked it to Midway online ASAP: already sold out. Sold out in 3 1/2 minutes.

Now, I do not know how much stock they got in, but as it was Midway probably quite a bit. I keep hoping the primer shortage is easing but judging from this one can conclude: not yet.

I see they have TulAmmo coming soon- maybe the Russkies will help us out!

This has happened to me regarding buying pre-loaded ammo as well. Afterwards, I just kept a Midway tab open on my laptop during the day, pre-saved my credit card/shipping info and checked out ASAP and was able to land 1000 rounds of Tula 9mm and a 1000 rounds of Remington 9mm in seperate orders. You have to be FAST and PREPARED. Good luck next time!

Same here bill got email clicked link and gone lol. Luckily i got 5000 federal spp from midway last week.

I had it set up for some P-mags and was on as soon as it came though and still did not get it in time.

So I called and asked what gives and she said that they filled back orders first. So good for those on back order but the rest of us do not get any.

I wasnt really sweating the fact that I was below 500 small pistol primers. I really don't get the chance to shoot much anyway. I did look for the SPP primers from time to time and never saw them available anywhere. I was keeping an eye on Powder Valley.

Today I called Able Ammo (Huntsville Texas) and asked if they had any. To my surprise I was told they had them in stock. Since the wife and I were going to Huntsville anyway, I stopped in and looked for myself. There they were, all 900 of them. I was looking for a brick of 1000 but settled for the 900 and called it a day. These were the last they had and they don't know when they will have anymore. The salesman said "maybe tomorrow, maybe next week or next month. Anything I tell you other than that would be a lie".

They also had CCI Stinger, 22LR. I haven't seen any 22LR in a good while. I also saw a good assortment of Hodgdon Powders, just not anything I normally use.

Maybe things are looking up?

I got the same notice, but I'd already hoarded 3000 before they started showing up on the shelves again at the LGS.

I'm still peeved over my 7.65 Argentine dies going from BO 1 April 2013 to 15 Nov 2013...

7.65 Argentine BO'ed???? Now it's really getting weird. It's like anything gun related; buy it now.

That's one of those things that doesn't have a lot of demand so the manufacturers do a run every so often. Kind of like cartridge brass makers and infrequent runs of non-mainstream calibers. Call around to all the sellers you can think of & one of them might have a set stashed under a counter...

The time of the e-mail could have been later than when the primers were offered for sale. There is often a time lapse.

Most places have a large number of backorders on primers to fill that takes everything that comes in. When supply catches up, we can once again order and receive within 4 or 5 days.

I had every intention of alerting members of this forum that Midway had stock of primers avail, since Im throwing in the towel for a few months. But looks like if 3.5 min is not enough time then well 12 hours will def not.

Hang in there and be persistent. If you can get mobile alerts. Have your customer log in rready and be prepared to pull the trigger fast.

You got through to Midway on the phone??

Midway won't accept orders on most of the out of stock stuff, and trying to catch them with anything in stock by those email notifications is hopeless.

Gamaliel will at least take orders for out of stock stuff. They claim that they can fill the backorders, although it may take months, but they ask that you don't place an order if you don't intend to accept it when the stuff is available. If they can do that, I can wait. Anybody had any luck with them?
