Tisas hi power clone weirdness

Been through all that, replaced and adjusted extractor and spring, you can put a loaded round in slide and shake the **** out of it and it doesn't come out! That's what is irritating about it! I've done everything I can think of or have found on line or from asking gunsmith, it still starts messing up randomly! Hi powers are reliable guns, and it mess up my ocd that I can't get it to run right!

My guess is that the gun is defective. If I was a betting the seller dumped it because of the issues. I would call the importer and ask for warranty work or I would find a smith who can fix it. Something is out of spec. There are reports of bad Tisas BHP guns that will not run with replacement extractors.

Mmm. Not a P35 guy, but the extractor may be outta spec. The Hi Power is/was a fine gun. This ain't a Hi Power. It's a Turkish clone. For all we know, the entire list of specs could be out of wack.

It's running better than it did originally, and like I said put 250 rounds through it with no problems, then started the failure to extract crap again!

If this were gas operated, I would suspect being under-gassed.
It's not, which makes me wonder about the geometry of the barrel's recoil lug.
There's a lot riding on the inertia of the slide moving back as the link cams the barrel out of engagement.
But, that is just a guess.

Aha...

Try hotter ammo? I know you said you had some 147 grain ammo, but that doesn't actually mean it generates more recoil energy. We'll need to know brands and product information or (better yet) if you have a chronograph just the weight and velocity (is it really velocity? We'll need the speed) of the projectile.

Is it locking back on empty reliably?

What's your total round count?

Mostly federal 115 grain brass and aluminum case ammo and some Remington 115 brass case. Did it again today with aluminum stuff. You can see in photo its grabbing case ! I've put the barrel in frame and it feels like the lugs locking in good and there's no play in it. It did it 3 times today in about 80 rounds. I've put at least 1000 rounds through it, and it keeps doing it.

Are all the problem rounds aluminum cased?

That ammo is brass cased champion. It is not the ammo. It is the gun. Something is out of spec. It is a Turkish clone and Tisas is not known for consistency and quality.

It did good for a little while after I honed out chamber, then started acting up again, I'm just getting aggravated with it!

I'm just going to park it for awhile, I'm tired of wasting time and ammo on it and not making progress! I don't want to get rid of it, I want to figure out the problem, but been messing with it for a couple months and getting burned out!

I might try one last thing and get an 18.5 pound recoil spring, I have put a new 17 pound one in it , but maybe it's still cycling too fast and coming off case? Just not wanting to dump a lot of money on something that doesn't have a lot of collection value!

The extractor is slipping off the cartridge case before the slide gets all the way back, right?

Can we get a picture of the extractor showing the angle of the hook? Or maybe just use a pick (or your pocketknife) to make sure there isn't any fouling that's accumulated there and making the hook slip off the rim if you don't want to take a picture.

Other than that (I'm still thinking extractor issues)... I'm out of ideas. Call up Tisas and ask for a new barrel.

Some interesting reading here, it seems they were having the same problem as well as others. They found the chamber wasn’t cut properly. It might help you narrow down the issue.

They also replaced many of the parts like the extractor with their own parts before testing really negating the validity of a lot of their findings IMHO. They mainly did that video and write up to sell people replacement parts. The OP of this thread replaced his factory extractor with one of theirs as well. When you start replacing parts with parts that do not have a proven track record of working.

My bet is still that the gun is out of spec. The chamber is the most likely culprit. OP why haven't you called LKCI and see what they can do for you. https://www.lkcillc.com/contact/

Which suggests the "close to drop in" repair would be a Browning barrel, perhaps?
Would probably need a really good lathe or milling machine rig just to properly test for concentricity.

For OP, can you clarify if the slide is stopping short of fully extracting (short stroking) or if the extractor is jumping off the rim (so you get a potential double-feed as the slide goes forward).
