Today I enjoyed the outdoors. I chose to carry......

Well I finally got my real camera to start connecting to my phone so I'll probably bring my DSLR out more and posting them. Especially with it being springtime and all the leaves are a vibrant green. Downloaded some old ones from the past few years.

Are you trying to say that @Armored farmer & @WisBorn would raise a little #$%& if we got together.
Let's see, we both have beautiful wives that love the outdoors. We both are gun nuts. We care about our friends and family. And we take The High Road...
Not to mention that we pick Good Beer over high priced wine. And life is to short to drink cheap whiskey :D
Did not say that my friend. I am sure something would get raised.
Life is certainly to short buy and drink cheap whiskey. Now if someone pays the tab, their choice. I agree Good Beer is better than high priced wine.

Come and join us for a Hike. And I would be happy to buy the first round! If in Wisconsin we can enjoy good whiskey with a New Glarus chaser (only sold in WI):D
The fun part is we can talk about all the guns we wish we had and all places we would like to enjoy the outdoors.

I would enjoy that. How old is that beer? Do not recall hearing of it when I lived around Maniwoc and Trivets. Of course that was late 99 to end of 08. I did learn to say the names of the two towns correctly.

It is from a small town of New Glarus in Southern Wisconsin. Not sure of gow long they have been brewing. They are concerned a bit of a yuppie beer. I truly prefer Point another small brewery in Central Wisconsin.

Another walk today. High 40s and damp cold at the start with a few rain drops but then some nice sun rays near the end. I chose to carry my S&W CSX in a new 1791 pancake holster. The holster seems good quality and was an overnight break-in. Did a little over 2 miles and didn't see any deer today. We can only buy 10 round mags here in CT and the 10 rounder isn't long enough for three fingers so I took a mag "pinky" extension for a Shield and trimmed it to fix the CSX mag=much better grip. Our Daughter brought our 18 month old Granddaughter over this morning for a few hours. Being a grandparent is the greatest thing ever. I can't imagine losing her in a school or any other shooting. Yesterday evening I took my pop-up blind back to my turkey hunting spot in preparation for Mondays season opener.
The river is up, so my 1.5 mile ride became 6miles one way around the road.
20230330_170514.jpg [pro tip.....use an old Area rug under your blind so your chairs don't sink in the mud]
20230330_174151.jpg
I tied it off everywhere I could and staked it down good because it is supposed to be stormy this wknd. 20230330_174122.jpg
I used this new 'hawk to trim some limbs and sprouts and to cut and drive some wooden stakes. I hated it! I don't say that too often, but this thing is a dud. The poll is about the size of my thumbnail and the bit is only a couple inches broad. The head is too light also.the tiny poll just battered the tent stakes. ...
After I got the blind situated, the $8 Walmart lawn chairs and my decoy bag inside, I went for a ride through the property hoping to find a shed antler on the trails or in the meadows. No such luck. 20230330_180205.jpg 20230330_180100.jpg 20230330_180508.jpg I did bump a few deer out though. 20230330_180330.jpg a bald eagle soared down this stretch of the river, but by the time I got my camera out and found him on the screen he was just a dot. They remind me of fancy buzzards when they're on the ground, but they're majestic in the air.
I had my new model 10 s&w along on this adventure and it seems very well suited for the task.

Good luck Monday turkey hunting.
In Wisconsin they have 6 seasons and 7 zones. I have 2 tags for two of the later weeks in May.
I like the model 10. Great walkabout choice:thumbup:

I have a 'all-seasons' landowners tag and also a 1st season tag. We always get busy farming after the 1st season. I may take my 3½" Ultra-mag 870 and show no mercy. We have plenty of birds this year. It would be cool to get a double on gobblers.
We could use them for Easter dinner.

Good looking setup. Awesome area you have. Good luck.

Tornados in our area last night we are still out of power as of 1pm today. Power poles down. High winds and hail. I bet my pop-up blind is somewhere in Ohio by now....or shredded. The nearby town of Robinson was hit pretty hard.

Turkeys are too I expect.

I went to school in Illinois, don't remember any tornados though. I don't know what else to say, except it takes big brass ones to live in dangerous country. That's why I live in New Hampshire... it snows once in a while but that's about it.

Hopefully your popup just collapsed.

Thanks guys.
All of my family and friends are ok.
The tornado passed about 7 miles south of me. We only had minor damage. Some trees down. A shingle or two.
There are folks that lost everything, including three fatalities. It was a bad one. I don't have any pictures of it to share...but I saw some incredible sights like semi trucks stacked up like toys

I lent a hand this afternoon to the tornado victims.i I 20230402_150824.jpg
I took my Honda and trailer and was able to navigate the mud and pick up debris out of the fields. 20230402_170348.jpg 20230402_170402.jpg
We made a dent in the mess but that was about it.
The power company was setting new poles.
Others were cleaning up the farmstead. While using g the oxy-acet torch on some twisted and tangled steel, they managed to set a container of flammable solvent on fire. It soon roared out of control. The fire depth had to be called in, as if the tornado weren't bad enough. 20230402_152848.jpg
..
After the cleanup party broke up....I hauled my Honda down in the bottom and checked my pop-up blind.
Much to my surprise it was still standing in its place!
I did make another loop through our property and did find a shed antler.

Glad you and yours are ok. Reminds me of the 1974 tornado outbreak across the Midwest. I was 14 and living on the outskirts of Louisville when they hit. Our house was ok but most of Louisville and the outskirts were torn up. One thing I remember is it was hard to find your way around. All the street signs were gone and many landmarks were unrecognizable. I don't think we had power for a few weeks. Best thing about it was all the neighbors shared what they had until the streets were cleared and some stores opened. You got one tough blind, it's a keeper! I worked as a welder out of high school/vocational school for a few years and set a few small fires myself. Nice shed! They don't get that big here in CT. Stay safe.
