Today was my last day waiting in line for ammo.

Stock up when ammo becomes available again and you won't have to play those games during the next ammo shortage.

Yes, I started in 2010 preparing for November, 2012. I am already watching for and starting to see deals for replenishing my supplies in preparation for 2016.

There are very few (if any) things in this world worth waiting in line for and ammo is definitely not one of them.

Never waited in line at all for ammo during the recent banic. While well stocked in most calibers I use, I was able to find what else I wanted online. During the worst, I would check gunbot whenever I was at my computer, and would hit on needed supplies from time to time (powder was harder to come by than loaded ammunition). Now I was never in the need for 22LR, so maybe that affects my somewhat casual attitude toward the recent supply situation.

I don't have to wait in line for 5.56, thankfully. My LGS has plenty in stock. Its too bad my bank account doesn't have enough money in stock to buy what I want.

Still don't find much .22 or 9mm, though

I actually haven't waited in line either. I set up a pretty good stock and was able to continue my current shooting habits.

The primer shelf is a little low though.

I know. What can I say. I got caught short with only 2,000 rounds each of 9mm and 45acp and no 22lr. Lesson learned and it won't happen again thats for sure.
I understand.

Since this current shortage started I've given friends over 6,000 rounds of ammo.
Just last week I gave a couple lady friends 1,000 rounds of 22LR and 300 rounds of 9mm WWB.
When ammo becomes available again we are going to have a talk about them stocking up themselves.:)

I hear ya. I was not as generous as you, but I kept several shooting friends in ammo at my cost. Couldn't afford to just give it away, but they paid what I paid, which was pretty dang cheap!

I've since told them all that when I see deals (I mainly buy off the interweb), they will get a text and should act accordingly based on their future shooting needs.

I've had to trim back on shooting a little, but not too bad. Frankly, I don't have the time to shoot nearly as much as I'd like, so there hasn't been that much to trim back.

As far as finding the bargains, though, I don't have the funds to buy ammo for friends, but I do have a list of contacts in my phone called "Shooters." Whenever I see full shelves, I send out a text telling them what I found and where.

I can honestly say I have never waited in line for ammo, but I had to wait in line to pay for ammo a few times.

I've not waited in line but when/if things get back to normal I will buy at least a box of ammo a week above whatever I plan to shoot. There are more guns I would like to buy but I need to work on a ammo supply for what I currently own. I should have learned my lesson during the Clinton years. Being laid off in '03 didn't help either.

I only started getting into the gun game big in the last few years so I was not ready, but unless something else causes panic, I will definitely be ready for the next crisis.

I'm starting to see ammo last a few days on the shelves around here, which is nice. I just don't have the money to stockpile it up as much as I'd like to.

I've given away, or have taken people shooting even without having a stockpile. I had a buddy who really wanted to go shooting with me, but couldn't find even a single box of 9mm. So even though I only had 500 rounds I still took him. Counted it as my good deed for the next month or so ;)

I suspect you'll still wait in line or hit stores looking specifically for ammnunition from time to time until this shortage works it self out. I was at a local gun shop today and they are still asking $50 for a bulk pack of 22LR (Federal Auto Match). Pretty much decided to not bother with this store in the future unless they completely change their pricing policies. Now they are running a "sale" on guns.... when the guns are listed above MSRP. They can keep them along with their overprice ammunition.

I've been checking the big online sellers of reloading components, such as Berry's Bullets and Powder Valley.
Pretty much nothing is available.
During the last shortage Powder Valley had over three million primers backordered. Now the companies are so far behind they won't even take backorders.

My small LGS still can't get ammo.

I don't think things will get back to "normal" any time soon, if ever.

The problem with your LGS's is they are at the bottom of the distribution ladder and are the last to recieve ammo orders.

Academy sells that Federal Auti Match in the $18 range. Getting 22lr out here hasn't really been a problemhere lately. I walked out with 2 Remington bucket of bullets yesterday. A 2800 round haul. Now I prefer CCI but the Remington will do fine in a revolver an my 10/22. My Buckmark though is another nut to crack. The only thing that it likes is CCI.

You are probably right about checking for the other ammo like 30-40 Krag and 32 S&W long as its either not available or overpriced. Most of my efforts though will switch to getting my reloading bench up and running. There are a few items I still need to pickup but mainly I need to build upon the stock I have been putting together. Once I get that to a comfortable level I'll add a square deal dedicated to 9mm and a MEC 9000GN. For now though I'm looking forward to my first match since January. I've missed put on some 30 matches due to a lack of ammo. Now I can start back up but nowhere near the pace I was at last year. Well I better get going. Today its shotgun practice and tomorrow its both shotgun and pistol. Can't wait.
