Had to run up to the local shop today to drop off invoices for gunsmithing work, put one of my critters out on his shelf and go over a few other things. Business has been slow for him, and I told him to just square up with me when he could, as I'm sitting OK at the moment. But he doesn't like owing, so he was going to cut a check .
I glanced over at the case and noticed a new arrival, a really clean Mk VII Desert Eagle .44. Now, I had a Mk XIX .50 in brushed chrome that I had to sell a decade ago to pay my mortgage, and though they're pretty impractical for most purposes, I did hunt with mine and had a general fondness for it.
I probably shouldn't have, but for $980 toward his bill, this is what followed me home:
