Got my Romanian TTC Tokarev out to the backyard creek today. Was shooting Prvi Partisan 7.62x25mm 85 gr. FMJ rounds. It was getting dark, and the pistol was making a very large muzzle flash! Here is a quick video I took of the action:

What fun! This is a really outstanding pistol. It has a good trigger, and the recoil is surprisingly light considering how hot and potent the high velocity round is. It's just downright comfortable and enjoyable to shoot. I am currently ordering a case of ammo for it. While the ammo isn't as cheap as it used to be, it's still worth it IMHO.

These are still available for cheap, and I recommend them! Thanks! :D

I love the 7.62x25 and the Tokarev. It is indeed an enjoyable combination. I don't have much experience firing it at night or nearing dark, but considering that I can see the flash during the day with Romanian, Yugoslavian and Polish surplus, I'd imagine it could be used as a strobe.

It was SO bright right now (see vid)! Much brighter than even my 4" .357 magnum firing 125 grain full power loads, but about 1/4th the recoil!! :D

Actually G20 with Korean ball or HP makes a bigger fireball. I don't know how much flash it produces but now that S&B 10x25 ammo can be had for about $15 per 50 there is no reason to bother with the TT.

If you like TT I would look for something like Norconia or Norinco 9x19 version. It is very easy to hit even for novice and super reliable if only ball ammo is used. The price for new sample in most foreign countries where is sold is about $100 or little over that. Good alternative comes from Serbia. The 9mm TT is well proven weapon in slum areas of foreign countries.

Hey Pablo, you've made it abundantly clear that you don't like the Tokarev in other threads. I do, and so do many others. To compare a Tokarev to a 10mm Glock is just stupid, I'll flat out say it. Two extremely different designs with extremely different histories. The Tokarev is a historic WW2/Cold War design that is fun to take out and shoot every once in a while, and fires a unique high-velocity small caliber round. Why you feel the need to constantly berate them as being inferior to a much more modern design with a much more modern cartridge is beyond me. We get it, you don't like them. I don't go on every thread you make and berate your choice. I might say "I don't prefer Glock 20s for this and that reason" but I'm not a smart aleck about it.

Well I like the Tok, and it's cartridge.
The first I had was a beat up Vietnam bringback. At the time, I could buy Chinese import ammo with copper wash cases.
Once, I shot it at an indoor range, the flash was large, and bright white...along with the boom, the rest of the range went silent and people came over to see "the magnum".

Love my Romanian TTC. Best C&R value on the market and I couldn't agree more with the OP, fun as heck to shoot. Comparing a Tokarev to a Glock is like comparing a chainsaw to a pair of earrings. Two different things that have little in common with each other. Also, tough to find Glocks for $200.00
