A trick that the local crowd as well as the THR BP family taught me is to use Ballistol and water "Moose Milk to wet the patches. Using this at a roughly 8:1 mix of watter to Ballistol I can easily go through my club's BP Trail walk which involves 26 shots to complete. No swabbing required and the ball seats pretty easily as long as I wet the patch well enough.
I seat the ball then dribble 5 or 6 drops onto the patch then push home. The first couple are super easy, after that the fouling increases the effort needed by a slight amount. But it stays at that level for the rest of the session unless I get too frugal with the Moose Milk.
Give it a try, I suspect you'll like it.
