I had mentioned to our realtor that I have been going shooting again lately. He is not an anti but instead an average guy that has really never thought much about firearms. He mentioned he would like to try it sometime so I took him over today after we signed the papers to buy another property. When I asked what he wanted to shoot he replied.."Something big". So I took my .44mag Rger SBH Hunter 7.5", my .357mag Ruger GP100 6", my .45colt Birds Head Vaquero, and my .45acp Kimber Pro carry II. I also took him my .22mag NAA mini revolver as a joke. He loved every minute of it. We went through over $100 worth of ammo over about two hours. He started off slightly interested, half way through he was thinking of buying a plinking gun for himself. By the end of the day, when we went to look at another property he was asking me what I carry, how to go about getting a CCW, and if I would take him gun shopping soon. I would call it a successful day. I posted some pics of it in the "Post Pics of your guns while you're shooting them" thread. Here is an example of him today. Doesn't he look happy. :)

Awesome Man!

Good on ya'!

So much fun to see _that_ smile, you know the one where you first shoot and start getting it on the paper and then you know it, there is a hook. They are having a great time and they didn't even expect to. Ahh, the joy of firearms.

:D

The best part of it all was at the end I asked him what kind of gun he wanted to look for and he said "revolver, definately a revolver". This was after shooting my revolvers, my .45acp and my business partners S&W 9,mm and PX4 Storm 9mm. it seems I have added another revolver fan to the club. He seemed to really like the .357 so next week I am going to take him my .357 SP101 to shoot. If he likes it i willtake him to the Gun Broker and show him the Rugers and S&W snub revolvers.

Update, he called me today and wants to go "gun shopping" tomorrow if I have the time. Of course I will allow him to make his own decision but I will be nudging him towards the Rugers. :)

If we all took it upon ourselves to bring just one new person to the range, we could be making a substantial contribution to our sport/hobby. Even if the person never shoots again, they can never say they haven't done so and may not be as quick to judge others that choose to do so. Good job!

Waitone

I did not even have to try either. All I had to do was get him there. The firearms and sportsmanship alone sold him. I bet alot of people experience the same thing. Once you get them there all you have to do is teach safety and let the fun do the work of convincing them for you. :)
