"Tool" Guns

How many guns do you own that are purely "tools"?

Thanks for all the replies guys!

I've come to the conclusion that I'm crap at writing polls. :) I definately should've had a "0" and probably some other categories. What I was trying to get at is that I have guns in my safe that I bought with the intention of using for SD or other uses but that have only ever been to the range and punched paper and sometimes steel.

I'd consider a CCW gun to be a "tool" even if it never got shot as long as you were carrying it . . . .but what about a CCW gun that just sits in the safe and takes the occasional ride to the range . . . .I couldn't consider that a "tool". Now if it was the nightstand gun and made the occasional trip to the range for proficiency then I guess it's a "tool".

We don't have CCW here in Illinois so that's not an option for me . .and I guess I was just surprised when I started thinking about it and the only gun I use as a tool is my shotgun. I take the Garand out and shoot some hi-power/service rifle matches and I do the same with other rifles/pistols, but I classify that as entertainment. (I guess I could say the same of hunting . . .although the meat this last year has saved us some pretty serious $)

I think the thing that I find most surprising is that while I respect the relability/durability/functionality of my 870 it's just something I use . . . .whereas I "covet" my Garand. :)

Anyway, thanks again.

Have a good one,
Dave
