Top shot show on History

As soon as I saw elimination round setup with Jay and Daryl I knew Jay would win. Daryl had problems in the practice round, probably due to nerves or exitement, and it showed in the elimination. Also the elimination seemed to favor Jay due to not having to transition to multiple target, just keep shooting progressively smaller target lined up.

The real killer was the magazine mis-step on Daryl's part.

I will rib him unmercially about a golf instuctor beating him the next time I see him though.

Man, Jay made it again. How much credit at Bass Pro does that guy have now, like 10k? (Actually, did he get another card from the host? I don't recall it specifically.)

Sad to see Daryl head to the house - he seems like a classy guy.

I'm ok with Jay, but I'll be excited to see George go home. He definitely rubs me the wrong way.

Next week looks like it will be entertaining.

What, doesn't everyone love someone who complains about shooting a .22, because it isn't scary enough? But yeah, I'm looking forward to the "self-described Jersey Shore guy" going home.

I'm glad they did a .22 challenge. Every shooter should be comfortable with those calibers, and it's pure technique. No worries about recoil or noise, little fumbling with unfamiliar firearms...just simple and pure.

I think Daryl and the other remaining contestants were all better overall with firearms than Jay. It looks like he had minimal firearms training in the past. We are now on his umpteenth instructor telling him to lose the cup-and-saucer, or change his rifle hold. However, his ability to handle pressure has helped him again-and-again.

I don't have a problem with Jay; I'm skeptical of how he is presented since the show is heavily edited. They can make anyone look bad i.e. George.

However, Jay is a clear underdog. He has to flat out-shoot the other six and he's at a clear disadvantage with his comparative lack of firearms experience. If he wins it all, it will be quite an upset. He's already lasted longer than even some of his competitors thought he would.

My present favorites to win it all are Joe or Chris. We'll see. :D

They should get away from the USPSA Open shooters and bring in Dave Sevigny, or another shooter who uses iron sights. Matt Burkett would be good, Manny Bragg--while they might shoot open now, they cut their teeth on iron sights. Get a guy like Jerry Miculek or the above named persons in there and they will dominate the show.

I'm starting to really like Jay. The way a lot of the "experts" sit back and laud themselves, many riding on the fact they were in the military or cops, is starting to grate at me. Many took cheap shots at Jay, and the one thing he does better than many, is block out the stress during the competition. I have managed to do that on a few occasions when it really went man on man. It is overriding your natural inclination to "choke" or tense up just because the situation is escalating. Not everyone stresses up; some actually get calmer, and seem to get a "screw the rest...I'm in my element" attitude. Jay, while not a seasoned shooter like some of the others, really does adapt fast, and focuses well, and STAYS focused under stress. And so far, that has really given him an edge. I think Daryl was a little too full of himself, and Jay handed him his hat. Think of how it must have been for Jay to not be military, and have the entire remainder of shooters reveling in "the Marine Corps Birthday" celebration at the house. It would kind of make you feel like an outcast. Well, he hunkered down, and still remains. So much for Daryl's 21 years in the corps, making lieutenant fast at the sheriff's department, and being an acknowledged competitive shooter.

Why are people threatening not to watch and to call the producers if Jay wins? He's not being handed anything. The producers aren't tailoring the competition to Jay. He's winning. He's doing it. He's going up against the others and he's getting it done when they're not. You can't argue with that.

I don't like the guy either, but he's earned the right to be there.

Go Chris Reed!!!

i dislike jay but if he wins im not gonna freak out or anything. i hate 99% of the people who win survivor, jeopardy, and especially wheel of fortune haha but hey if they win they win.

Jay didn't do so well during the team challenge. He took to long using his bullseye stance with little return in results. He's vulnerable and probably won't win it all but I can see him make it to the end.

I'm rooting for Chris.

I honestly see Jay having a hard time with this coming long range challenge. Unless he is lucky as all get out, the military men should have quite an edge. (especially the sniper...)

I am wanting Chris to win it all. He has been humble through it all and let his shooting do his talking.

Jay deserves to be in the competition. But he's a jerk.

But Daryl was also a super big jerk. I hated when he crossed Jay and voted for him at the last second AFTER everyone else had agreed on who to vote for and send to the elimination round. I lost all respect for him then.

I don't like any of the guys there, I agree about the "Ohhh look at me, I'm former police/military bla bla" gets really tiring.

But if I had to go for one guy, I guess I'd go for the Southern dude... Just because he's from the South haha ;-)...

I'm also ready to see Jay go home. However I'm not a big fan of George either. He just seems like the "show-off" type.

i know revenge for all you jay haters
hes a golf coach right?
who ever lives near his home town needs to sign up for lessons and then refuse to listen to any corrections he gives you
: )

one of the guys who gets very little face time on the show, because he has very little bragging and whining and insulting to do is Joe Sarafini. Yet, he is one of the best shooters so far.

Jay has two things going for him.

1) he's got a ton of natural shooting talent
2) more important he seems completely unfazed by the pressures of competition (and that's how he's survived every elimination challenge or more to the point how his competition has lost).

So he's a good shooter but if he'd listen to the experts and learn better technique he'd probably end up a great shooter. That said he's got a point that you shouldn't make major changes in your technique (regardless of sport) the day before a competition.

George, on the other hand, strikes me as one of those guys that will have no problem following orders to kick in the doors of "civilians" and confiscate their guns.

I would like to see Jay eliminate George from the show, and then get beat by anyone else... If he actually listened to some of the instruction he might be even better, with the way the show is edited he sure comes off as one of the weaker shooters. And yet that is two or three elimination challenges now where he beat the clear favorite...

I'd say Jay is one of the less experienced shooters, but facing off head to head and beating a former Marine in a rifle and revolver shootout wouldn't make me call him a weaker shooter. He's got the mental game down pat.
I think working with the Barrett .50 calibre at long range in the next show may be where his lack of experience will prove a major drawback, though.

I got to spend some quality time with a well know marine sniper some years ago. It just struck me that had he been one of the contestants on Top Shots, you would never have heard him brag about his service or career, or bad mouth anyone else he was competing against. He would just smile, be perfectly gentlemanly and charming, and shoot. I'd sure like to see that confidence and those honorable qualities among these shooters. The show is starting to resemble those stupid reality shows where they lock them all up in a house together.

The other side of that coin is that he likely knows nothing about the Barrett and will likely listen carefully and do everything exactly as the expert instructs...and shoot perfectly

Then we wouldn't be on gun forums talking about the show. Well we may, but it wouldn't be to this extent.
They edit and probably rehearse everything they say. We love the guns and the cool shooting competitions, but at the end of the day, it's about the ratings and they're gonna make it as controversial as possible. Everyone getting along and living happily ever after doesn't make for good tv.

First time I handled a Barrett I was getting hits at over 600 yards. It looks a lot more intimidating than it is to shoot.
