I've got a couple of AR barrels with some minor scratches I'd like to address. Is there any way to touch this up without re-parking the whole barrel or covering it up with a spray-on coating?

I'll offer a thought without the experience to back it up.

Muffler paint is flat and temp resistent. I'd spray a bag and let it thicken up and apply on a clean bare spot (cleaned with rubbing alcohol.)

Birchwood Casey markets a touch up BLUE Pen and a flat black pen. I have heard good things about the BLUE pen. I dont know if they make one just for parked finishes or not. I have used the flat black pen and dont care for it much. It is more like a paint pen and scratches off really easily. You might check for the park pen by Birchwood Casey and see what you can find. Hope this helped some.

I've used 44-40 with great results too, but I havn't been able to find another bottle.

It made a well worn mauser look almost new. It had slight pitting on the receiver and I filled those with black epoxy (high-temp) and went over with steel wool and 44-40.

I hope 44-40 is not discontinued. I think birchwood casey has some super dupper formula like "deep blue" or something of that effect.

I'd still try the muffler paint first on parkerized finish.

Also...

In addition to the above coverups you could try re-parkerizing the barrels. I have done magazines before. Cleaned them real well and then dumped them into the tank and filled in the worn spots. It may not turn out to be exactly the same color but when oiled you can't tell the difference.
