so what did you not like about the 1911 ? I see you not only went from a steel gun to a poly gun, but you also went from a 45ACP to a 40S&W , I like both, but the 1911 is thinner , easier to carry , nicer triggers, I assuming you just like the feel of the XD better ? or was it the cal. 40s&w over the 45acp ?

Keeping the 1911 and getting the XDM wasn't possible?

That's what I'd shoot for.....
Since my wife has become and avid shooter that's been her position for going on two years now. No such thing as decidin' ... buy both. Or all three. I don't buy guns any more; I just watch ... and load.

Congrats on the new XDM, I personally love my Colt 1911, they really are works of art. On the other hand I enjoy shooting my glocks as well. Everyone has different likes that they are entitled to. Enjoy it!
Some people have both:D

We are all different. I had an XDM .40 that I could just not get used to. Never fit my hand right, was awful to carry with that super-long plow handle grip. I find the 1911 far more comfortable to shoot. I also find the slim profile and slightly shorter grip frame easier to conceal on the rare occasions I carry it.

I alternate between a Sig 2022 and p226 for EDC, depending on what I'm wearing, but while I enjoy shooting the 226 the most, I actually shoot a little tighter groups with the Colt. That XDM? I never could get the right grip to shoot it well.

You are wise to shoot what fits YOU best.
