Traded my Beretta 84F today for

a 92FS Compact made in Italy. Bought the 84FS (black not nickle) in 2007 and traded for a total difference of $165, which equates to a $400 trade in allowance for the 84FS. I am very satisfied with the deal and my new pistol. I will post a range report later this week. Sorry, but I don't know how to post photos.

It is a 84F so IIRC the decocker/safety allows you to carry it cocked and locked unlike the 84FS where the decocker/safety will not hold the hammer back.

It is worth $450 to $550 depending on your local market and what comes with the gun.

To the OP that was a fair trade, althought I think you could have gotten more for the 84FS selling it straight out vs trading it.

I have two 92 compacts I bought recently. They are very nice.

My fullsize 92FS has been my daily concealed carry for the past 18+ months.

However, I just started incorporating 1 of the compact 92s into my carry rotation this week.

I assume it is because the barrel and slide are shorter - but for some strange reason, I can do doubletaps better with the 92 compact compared to the fullsize 92. The second shot hits closer to what I am aiming at with the compact model

You traded a "nice gun" for a "very nice gun"..

Simply put, you came away with a far better gun in all respects

Don't Carry 'Cocked and Locked'. It is not cocked and locked.

I have that model. With the hammer cocked, you can push the safety lever up so that it will stay and look as though the safety is engaged but IT IS NOT. This is very dangerous. In that position, the lever is actually just sort of stuck. But safety is not engaged. Someone carrying this way is carrying a cocked gun with a single action trigger that is ready to fire.

The safety on the 84F and 84FS are used the same way. The safety lever is supposed to be used as a decocker and a safety WHEN THE HAMMER IS DOWN. Never 'cocked and locked'.
