Traffic Stop AAR

ScottS:

Four of those videos depicted examples of crimes against persons, committed by police officers.

Yes, I said criminal activity.

The one where the paraplegic was assaulted was especially disturbing. What was worse was the fact that there is an aggravating factor--the paraplegic appears to be in custody.

Perhaps you will believe me in this, maybe you won't. But here is the truth:

No one hates dirty, abusive cops more than good cops.

That is a cold, hard fact. We do not tolerate these kinds of fools for long.

Cities like Chicago have a unique level of problems all their own. But I will tell you this--had that assault on the bartender occurred out here, I can almost guarantee that some good ol'boys would have beat that crooked cop's butt for him--and received commendations afterward.

I know that if I had been in that bar, I would have gone straight after him. Badge or not, that was a violent assault.

Again, whether y'all believe me or not, your choice.

Oh, by the way, Sans Authoritas--Deputy Dinkheller was pulling the guy over for exceeding the posted speed limit by over 40 mph.

Even if he wasn't, does the officer deserve to die--especially like that--for doing his job?

Y'all may not like me or my brothers and sisters in uniform much. It doesn't matter. I will NOT go out like that Deputy. To paraphrase another lawman (I can't remember which one right now), you may find me dead in the street, someday. But, by God, I'll be on a pile of smoking brass.

And that's all I have to say about that. Think I'll go have a donut.

sans authortitas
can i safely assume you live to your code in the woods off the grid self sufficent and answering to no man or law? or are you sniping at the tit you suckle?

Powderman,

Actually, I'm a huge LEO fan. All I was pointing out through those videos is that not all LEO's ride in wearing the "white hats," nor should that be your automatic assumption during a traffic stop. Most of the time you will get Sheriff Andy Taylor, but sometimes you might get Barney or Goober. You can't always be sure who you'll get, and it's better to assume Barney and get Andy than vice versa.

One thing I am sure of is during a traffic stop, we're not friends stopping to discuss old times. The dynamic is all wrong for that. It's the LEO's belief, rightly or wrongly, that I am in violation of some law. In this mind, there is already a "wrong-doer" in this situation, and it's me. It can be going just peachy, but it can go south at any point. It's not the time to chat, discuss common interests, or volunteer unnecessary information. It's not the time to test his/her knowledge of the laws of your state, his understanding of the subtleties of CCW reciprocity, or whether he thinks a CCW automatically makes you "one of the good guys" or a PITA cop-wannabe. It's time for brief, polite compliance with the letter of the law, and to end the encounter as soon as practical.

And you'll get nowhere.

Please explain this to me? I think the most aggravating thing would be to follow him and film his activities. Which is completely legal for when he is doing his job. He'd never be able to abuse anyone without being caught on tape....

Good guys vs bad guys, 9mm vs 45, Chevy vs Ford. Colt vs KimSigHK, S&W vs Taurii.
Good Cops following wrong procedures is still wrong and Cops who break the law are still Criminals.
This has gotten past the point of the AAR and gone to the place where most Good Lawmen/Bad Cop threads end up. Locked.
