I was walking home today. Usually when i walk home there is no one around,

Today i heard someone nigh stomping behind me. I look aorund and theres a kid with his head down, kinda looks pissed. I'm a little...concerned. Not too much. Earlier today in the halls someone whispered 'pussy' in my ear. Didnt see who. Now, AFAIK ive not pissed anyone off, but rumors can come up, mistaken identity, etc...

I get to a stop light and press the button. Kid comes up behind me. I watch his shadow (sun is to our backs). He keeps on stompin....

Suddenly the shadow moves forward! I turn around faster than i ever thought i could and put my hands up in a sorta kinda guard.

Kid just looks at me blankly, his hands holding his backpack straps.

I say
"Sh** man, thought you were gonna hit me! Freaked me out..."
He just stared and walked on by...

Moral of the lesson-
If you think someones gonna try 'n hit you, dont look at their shadow.

Yeah, i'm mentally challenged, so what? If i had been smart i shoulda just casually leaned my back against the pole. *Sigh* that was a wierd situation. I didnt want to seem wierd by staring intently at the dude though.

Quit looking at me like that!

you're NOT being paranoid, but yes, leaning your back on the pole would've been a VERY good idea. but you were very clever with watching the shadow... nearly as good as watching the kid...

Bah! Nothing wrong with awareness. Awareness = sanity, if you think about it.

And I know I'm not paranoid. You can just ask any of the number of people that are after me! :scrutiny:

Yes, I am a paragon of mental health.

Depressed?
I am sad to say I am not!

:D

OK, I better go before I get banned for bad jokes.

;)

when im in a situation where i dont feel comfy with the person behind me i find some reason to stop and fiddle around while they walk by....grabbing a paper out of my jacket and pretending to read it, grabbing out my cellphone and messing with it while keeping track of them out of the corner of my eye, etc.

if they also stop and start fiddling then youve got something to worry about.

The shadow trick saved my bacon more than once back in my stupid fighting (read: Middle/High School) days. Better to look the fool than to get your lunch eaten IMO. If something does not feel right, it is best to act. Action beats reaction most every time.

I was at a drug house today where the woman rentor was evicted. Neighbor tells me that boyfriend of the former resident killed someone and got off (head shot). Girlfriend keeps driving by to check what I'm doing..... time for some protection and time to be just a little bit alert. No shadows; it was daylight.

Uh...dude? Why are you hanging around drug houses and attracting the attention of people that are involved with (acquited) murders???
