Is the process truly anonymous in your opinion?Speedo66 said:Would I do it again? Depends how much I want to exchange some guns for others I guess.
One of the conditions of the buy back in brooklyn was that the firearms be functional. I guess the way they figured it, they would have to be foolish to buy back a gun that did not function. As I see it they are foolish anyhow, just puppets of Bloomberg. His answer was "only an idiot would bring in a working weapon to be destroyed.
They promised $100 for ANY firearm turned in- up to 6. He checked the city ordinances and found out that BB guns were considered firearms. He had two busted rifles and an old derringer. He went to Wally World and bought three BB guns and turned them all in. The cops tried to argue that the BB guns didn't count (he showed them the code) and that the other guns weren't in keeping with the "spirit of the buy back". His answer was "only an idiot would bring in a working weapon to be destroyed".
Among the ones you'd cry for were several nice Colt and S&W high quality revolvers, a few Colt .45 Govts., nice semi-auto shotguns with beautiful wood, nice side by side shotguns, a nice M-1 carbine, some nice bolt action high powered rifles, and the most unbelievable of all: wait for it,
a guy 2 ahead of me on line turned in a very nicely finished Colt single action army .45 revolver, and get this, marked Property US Army, with ivory grips.
They had many NYPD range officers there to collect them and I asked if that Colt would be destroyed. First I was told yes, then he said it would probably wind up back at the range for "training" purposes.
