Just bought my first red dot style sight, a fixed 1x32mm Bushnell Trophy T-Dot. I like the iron sights on my Colt, but I'm hoping to shrink my 100 yard groups with the addition of the red dot.

I'm runnin EOTech with LaRue po boy special 2.5X magnifier, with flip up back ups.

Technically my carbine is a 21" bbl bullpup, but I think it falls into the same class as a ~14" M4. I currently have a 3-12x44mm, but recently have been thinking of upgrading to a Ziess 4.5x14x44mm adjustable objective with target turrets and a rapid Z-1000 reticle. I wish they made it in a bit lower magnification, but I like the scope. If I decide to go that route it will have a mini red dot mounted atop the scope for closer work.

Burris XTR 1x4 with BDC reticle and center illumination. Had it about a year now and it seems durable and it's working very well for me. Very close to true 1x as far my eyes can tell.

Hey Mot45... does that po-boy whack your shooting glasses when you are close enough for full field of view?

I've got rifles with different roles that fit into the parameters of this question:

1.) LR-308- AR- "type" w/ 18" Barrel-- it has a Leupold Mk. IV 3.5-10x40 Illuminated TRM w/M3 Knobs.

2.) AR-15- 16" Barrel-- Making some changes now, but it will have an Aimpoint ML3 2 MOA on it.

3.) 10/22- 18" Barrel-- has a Nikon 3-9x40 Prostaff on it.

4.) H&R 45-70- 16" Barrel-- has a Nikon Prostaff 2-7x33 Shotgun optic on it.

Obviously, all have different roles.

no offense, but...

I think that you should have broken eotech and AimPoints into different options, as a lot of shooters often have to choose between them if they want 1x.

Just me 2 cents

I have six ARs. Two 16" Carbines and four 20" models. I have 4 Aimpoints. Each of the carbines has one, one is on a 20" with the mount that places it over the handguards and my 20" flattop has an ACOG. The 4th Aimpoint is on my Rings Blue Gun (M4) for training purposes.

Aimpoint 1x's on the social-purposes carbines, Aimpoint 2x's on the woods huntin' ARs, 1.5x-6x Sightron SIIs on the general-purpose hunting ARs, and varmint scopes on the varmintin' ARs.

Not really, but it is a very close eye relief. I think it is due to the lack of recoil on an AR-15. I think if I were to graduate to a larger caliber/different platform it could pose a problem.
