Was wondering if anyone had ever fit a Pietta cylinder to a Uberti revolver. I was finishing up tuning my new Pietta Sheriff's 1860 and got to wondering. since all of the internal parts will interchange with only minor additional fitting what about the cylinder's. Sometimes I have way too much time on my hands so I got out my Uberti 1860 and compared it to the Pietta. Surprise the only material difference is that the Pietta is .026 longer than than the Uberti and of course the Pietta chambers are .004 smaller.
Could be a simple solution to an Uberti that had an overly large barrel cylinder gap or if you wanted a spare cylinder you didn't have to pay twice the price for? looks like all you would have to do is face of the excess on the front of the cylinder and maybe open the chambers a tad if you felt that was important.

This would only be using a Pietta cylinder on a Uberti revolver. Wouldn't work going the other way as the Uberti cylinder would be too short.

I did once, had to hone off some off the excess to get it to fit. Made for a really tight cylinder gap. IIRC I did two for that gun one really tight then one midway between it and stock. Shot the tight one first then the next, lastly the stock cylinder. Get them out of order and the tight cylinder would bind up due to fouling. The guy I did the work for said he had to clean it better than his Pietta's if he wanted to shoot more than one string.
