Ultimate 357 magnum revolver if you were going to have ONE?

IRT "Wearing out" a revolver. Before his death, we were shooting and we talked about how many rounds he had through his Mod 19. He estimated roughly 250k over 40+ years of use and in a couple of decades of competitive shooting. He said he'd removed the side plate only a few times in all of that time and rounds. He actually built it at S&W while he was going through their armorers course because at that time he was a firearms expert for the state of California's crime lab. He went ahead and did a trigger job on it while there as well. A very slick shooting pistol! Most of those Smiths had great triggers but it's amazing how much better this one feels in comparison to the others I have which are basically "stock".

Those were stock photos but this one isn't. The trigger and the feel on this is something to be experienced. This thing is way more accurate than I am. My short review is WOW!

This ain't no stock photo either and the MR73, while being a great gun, is not perceivably more accurate than a S&W M15. The main difference is in the build quality.

PzGren- You wipe the babies with a diaper and Sing soft music to them?
They look very nice. Absolute Beauties! What’s the S&W far left in photo?

Back in June I listed as the "one and only"
either a Smith 586, Python 2020, a Manurhin
or a Korth.

For some reason I didn't mention the
Ruger GP100. Yes, that could also
be my "one and only" revolver.

As can be seen, I'm eclectic in
my choice(s).

I guess if I had to only have one it would be a GP100, the triggers are great with a Wolff spring kit installed and they're durable enough to last five lifetimes. Stainless finish for easy upkeep and yeah, that would be the one. The 4.2" balances the best but I have a soft spot for the 5" GP100's.

38? Wow!
I only have 5, and I thought I had one for each occasion. You must have more occasions than me, but I'm working on it. My favorite is the GP100 my wife keeps under her pillow. I hope she leaves it to me in her will when she goes, because it has a buttery trigger in single and double action and shoots like a dream. It's a stainless 4.2" bbl, 7 shot.

I paired my Win 73 in 357 with a Uberti El Patron. Both are very accurate and extensions of my hands at this point. I don't have a huge collection but I know every gun I have intimately. Loads are worked up for accuracy so there is no doubt where the bullets are going. I really don't need anything else in 357.

My favorite caliber,I like all things .357.I have 38 of them.
I'm a shooter, not a collector.

Have one each, a Uberti Cattleman SA and a S&W 65 DA, in .357 and feel I'm covered.

Must be a nice collection, but I don't know what I'd do with 38 of the same caliber.

The ultimate 357 magnum, IMO, is a Lew Horton S&W 27-8 registered magnum. I like the python but I'd prefer this 27-8 over the snake.

JanzEM357,

While I appreciate the expected
quality of the Janz, ditto for the
Korth or Manurhin, I merely
listed "the one" .357 as being
any with the L-frame, I-frame,
GP100 frame.

Anyone who has taken notice knows
my favorite revolver is the Smith
Model 15 in .38 Special.

A .357 would just be a seldom-used
gun stuffed in a safe just to have one
and maybe shoot it on rare occasions
with .357s.
