I get the feeling that were this to occur, Quebec would bolt the next day.

It could be a good thing, as such would set a precedent, and maybe Montana/Idaho, and other Northwest states would merge with Western Canada to finally form Cascadia....

As one poster commented about the Soviet Union - stranger things have happened.

well you all down there can have quebec. we have put up with them long enough. we dont want them. you can treat them like a beaten stepchild for all i care. they dont do anything but whine and grab for money because they speak french.

sorry i speak english i want some money just because im unable to speak french and english. and was forced to take it in school. gimmie gimmie gimmie !

I submit the following two very serious questions for the readers' consideration:

1) If Quebec does not want to be part of Canada, why would we?

2) If the illegal aliens from Mexico doen't want to be part of Mexico, why would we?

This is all about big-business and global hegemony. Will I never vote to accept such a proposal.

I'm not all against doing something with Mexico.

People are fleeing from the country, 'cause of a terrible economy created by corrupt government and violent organizations. So we need to send troops down there, and fix the place up anyway. And the vast majority shares a sense of westernism. It wouldn't be a cake walk or cheap but it can be done, and would solve many immigration problems and prevent many much bigger ones.

Canada on the other hand... I wouldn't mess with that.

edi: actually i think i should revise that, i don't think mexicans are fleeing mexico so much as many are comming to work in america and send the money back. This would suggest a decent ammount of pride in Mexico. But it could just be they realise the money they earn in america will go a lot further down there(at least for some things). I still think we should seriously consider our options. Of course, the people of mexico would have to be willing to form states and join the union. Regardless of their wishes when it comes to joining the US, a good cleaning out, and the right to bear arms would go far for helping their society.

Noooo, we stop serving as a pressure relief valve for Mexican society. We keep those disgruntled enough to leave in Mexico and let them deal with the corruption in their own country. Our ruling elite's open borders policy is merely making the situation in Mexico worse. We are concerned over Venezuela's flirtation with Marxism and their nutjob president. Imagine the three digit pucker factor when Mexico goes marxist. Imagine the blackmail possible when a marxist Mexican president pushes against a feckless American president. Opps, sorry. Didn't mean to cast the scenario in the future.

Where I live things already "look considerably different."

The overwhelming majority of the hispanic population in this country is US born or lawful admission.

Anyone who believes there are only seven million Mexicans in the U.S. illegally also believes that George Bush has an interest in stopping the flow of illegals or can ride a bicycle without falling over. I suspect there are easily seven million just in California.

You shouldn't cherry pick your stats.

LOL... Sorry guys. I'll try harder next time to find the numbers you'd prefer me to use :rolleyes:

Well, that's kind of the issue at hand... neither Canada nor Mexico is going to formally entertain this idea; most of their respective citizens are quite content where they are.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Half of Mexico would be here in a heartbeat...and when amnesty gets passed it will be here...this creates a super boon for the Mexican govt...they get rid of social problems...health..education...welfare..inferstructure...and get the rewards of billions of US dollars being sent to mexico...this will produce a ongoing flow of illegals...with some of the new found wealth from US dollars..those remaining will feel comfortable enough to have larger families..thus keeping the wheel turning...
with this kind of ongoing dynamic..rather than pass silly amnesties every 5 - 10 years...just merge the countries ... you get rid of illegals as they are now NAU citizens and the countries in central & south America will now send us their "unwanted" population in record numbers...
if there is a solution other than "if ya cant fight em..join em" that the current political system seems to embrace..and the future administration will exploit..im afraid its well hid
Yes Wolf, I agree...This admin has done much to make Hegel very proud, were he still alive.
So what would the point of that be?
And longeyes' moving oration notwithstanding, I am still unclear as to how this relates to firearms/2A.
It's not up to you to decide how this topic applies to 2nd A rights, it's up to the mods.
Better?
Now, this easily applies to how it *might* affect the entire BORs should the invasion complete itself which falls under the L&P guidelines. Don't care for the topic? Don't read it.
In the condensed version i painted above and has been echoed by many on this forum for a long time...for example...there are mass protests against the NAU and grand debates..and legal and moral pundits extrapolate on the issue for months..years...and in the end...basically...they "take the country away from us"...yeah there are remnants of the BOR and the constitution...but now it includes a mired of items that were fought against by at least half the US population..gay marriage and all the ramifications..legal abortion (of course) a certain percent of income is fully taxable..not sheltered by any means..free education through collage..medical coverage for all..and so forth...the government is the first & final word..there are no "borders" per se and being a citizen is understood is as easy as breathing free...if you want to be a citizen..well...you are one...of course the military will be controlled and leashed tightly..
in this kind of "social utopia" do you see a need for firearms..they will go the way of the horse & carrage..not that they are "bad" or anything you see...you just don't need them anymore...
see how it will effect the 2A...it will be gone
if you say it can't happen...you scare me more than Hillary...
LOL!
I had no idea that it was poor form to ask questions in this forum. I will try to limit my future responses as much as possible to simply agreeing with you; possibly just nodding if it makes you more comfortable.
In any event, rest assured Biker, I have no interest in any way infringing on your right to disdain, disparage, deride, or dislike anyone, anything, or any group that you may choose to.
I was simply curious as to how this very learned discourse furthers our collective 2A goals.
Now, this easily applies to how it *might* affect the entire BORs should the invasion complete itself which falls under the L&P guidelines. Don't care for the topic? Don't read it.
I quite enjoy the topic. I quite enjoy the discussion. It is very enlightening.
I see.
So in essence, we are actually further ahead by attempting to maintain social dysfunction in that it ensures our need to maintain the infrastructure necessary to combat it. For example, if we were to erradicate child molestation, we would lose the skill-set requisite to investigating and apprehending pedophiles... so it is actually better to preserve the social forces which create the problem in the first place.
Got it. I'm not sure that I agree with you, but I very sincerely respect your attempt to explain it. Thank you.
if you say it can't happen...you scare me more than Hillary...
I'm not saying it "can't" happen... I'm saying that neither Canada nor Mexico is likely to entertain this formally.
Many people are afraid of those who don't agree with them. You really shouldn't be.
Cfriesen...
A nod will do just fine. No need to patronize. However, simply agreeing with me will satiate my need to prevail over sarcastic alliteration regardless of the source.
Sooooo many thanks. Like many sluts, I'm easy to please.
Biker:)
