For those that did not see the original post, my 6 year old was scheduled to see a pediatric cardiologist for a possible heart valve being restricted or collapsed. The appt. was on halloween, so it was a busy day as you can imagine.
I've worried, had sleepless nights, not eating right (you can imagine). Basically, I have been a mess and it really shows at my job. I've been called in I don't know how many times over reports that really don't make much sense, go figure, my mind was somewhere else.
Anyway, we made it to the appt, about 2 hours away at Childrens hospital in Oklahoma City. My parents decided they needed to be there, they drove up from outside of Ft. Worth, about 3 1/2 hours away.
Kiddo did an EKG right off the bat. Doc came in and it was question and answer time. He listened to her heart, pushed on her in various places, did the doc thing whatever that was.
He did not hear anything that concerned him. The EKG was good as were his other tests. He thought our family MD. was hearing somthing contributed to her virus that is gone now.
He did not put her thru other testing, an Echo something or another, I can't remember what it was called, along with another test I have no clue what he called it.
He believes her problem, after many questions, has been dehydration of all things. Wants us to keep her drinking water, sports drinks and juice. He did have her wear a heart monitor for 24 hours. We had to keep a log of her activity with the time so the results could be figured.
We were fortunate that her teacher would keep the log while she was at school. Basic things like, PE, recess, any activity that would get her heart rate to change along with the time of occurance.
We won't get those results for two weeks, so we're still a little edgy. I'm just really happy she did not have to go thru the gamut of tests. He apparently did not find anything during the initial evaluation that caused concern so that is a huge relief.
She was a little unhappy having to wear the monitor as you can imagine. My wife and I are just so relieved from the initial visit you can't imagine. I'm hoping, keeping fingers and toes crossed that the results will be ok.
Here is the shot before the trick or treating. She is on the right with the strapped monitor. She came up on her own with being a "dead bride", don't know where that came from, but here she is with my oldest.
So, the cardiologist did not find the same thing our family doc found. I'm guessing that is good news since her virus is gone now. Hoping it was just as the cardiologist said, something with the virus our doc was hearing. Never can be too carefull with the little ones.
I appreciate all the thoughts and prayers from everyone here, you don't know how much it has meant to me.
