Some of you had asked me to update you on what was wrong with my brand new SRH 9 1/2" model. I received it back from Ruger today (yay!) with the following notation:
Internal components as needed: Repaired
Crane: Repaired
Cylinder Release Button: Repaired
Hammer Dog: Replaced
Trigger: Replaced
Now, given that I'm about as mechanical as my cat I have no clue what a "hammer dog" is, but it and the trigger were obviously screwed up. It is now clean, all polished up, and ready to shoot.
Oddly enough I was just grumbling about Ruger today while sitting in my blind in the forest. I'm set up (for tomorrow too) just off a path where numerous deer travel, and where there's a big buck that I'm wanting to get who's left a couple of scrapes and whose smell, um, is obvious in the area. And I was sitting in my blind today thinking "I can't get my rifle up quickly enough; I need my SRH". And lo and behold....here it is.
I'll have to give it some thought as to whether I really take it tomorrow; taking it hunting without range time to prep is an iffy thing. OTOH, it makes a lot more sense to shoot from as little as 10 feet with a revolver than with a rifle.
At any rate, it's back, it was indeed a "lemon", I guess, given all the work it needed, and I can't wait to get out there and blast away with it!!!!!
Thanks for all of you who have been interested in how things went and wanted to know what happened.
