A few weeks ago I authored a thread about being denied a purchase due to confusing information.
Well, I got that straightened out with fingerprints. They said it could take up to 179 days. It actually only took two weeks. With the certificate of purchase that they sent (Only the second one that the FFL had ever seen), they sent an application for a UPIN. I immediately sent it in with the fingerprint card and other documentation. I got the UPIN (Unique Personal Identification Number) Saturday in the mail. Along with it came the information that stated that the UPIN does not automatically guarantee a proceed when buying a firearm, but it will help to possibly avoid delayed status.
So, I just wanted to let you know that it may be worth getting the UPIN if you are delayed often.
